Camille , appreciate you joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Chrysalis? The epiphany came when I was sitting in my living room. The word Chrysalis came to mind. I brushed it off, but it kept coming back to me. I looked it up, and it means the transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly. But, I still didn’t know what I was supposed to do with it? It was the Lord! He reminded me of all of the parties I would hold for my students, and how I had the talent to transform an ordinary classroom, into the most awesome, thematic party! Chrysalis Event Planning LLC was created!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I began working in the educational industry as a special education provider. After seven years, it was time for Camille to divorce her comfort zone. Everyone was familiar with me, but it was time for me to shift; and go somewhere where people didn’t know me. I still wanted to serve people, but I also wanted to be an entrepreneur. But, how? How was I going to have fun, laugh, and serve others so their day ends with a smile, and memory? It took a while for me to decide what I wanted to do, but instead it was what God needed me to do. Chrysalis Event Planning LLC, is about the client taking the wheel, and putting their dreams in my hands, and allowing me to create the most unforgettable memory; they can be proud of 10, 15 20 years from now! It’s not about me! It’s about them and what they desire, what they can’t believe with their eyes! Even if it’s just hosting and seating people, a smile and a thank you are priceless! With Chrysalis Event Planning LLC, all consultations are free, and we work within each clients budget, to carry out their vision. No two parties/events are the same!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Purpose! I learned over the years, that a good idea, doesn’t mean it’s a God driven idea! There were many times, I had a good idea and good intention to do something; only to have severe consequences that follow. I have learned that my life has a purpose behind it. I’m not just here existing to work, pay bills, retire at 65 and that’s it! I’m not judging, but there was a pattern that I was almost confirmed to, until my Faith in God grew stronger. He had more for me. There were talents that I had within me, that I wasn’t aware of, because I was so used to being a creature of habit in one area. I had to unlearn the patterns of the world, and conform to the plans of God. His ways are not our ways, and I was willing to lay down my will and plans for his.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele: The foundation of my business is not based on my needs. When you have a purpose, it goes beyond the amount of money you want to make. You have a job, work, or purpose; and this business is about purpose. Even if I get a slow no, with truth; than a fast yes with a lie, the foundation always goes back to God. I have come to serve people. I am here to listen to the needs end wants of others.
