We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camila Houston. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camila below.
Camila, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
One big moment in my life came from a loss. My world changed completely when Mami Pepa passed away in my arms. This moment made me grow up fast and find ways to survive at a very young age. At 14, I decided to leave my country and move out. I left my family, friends, school, and everything I knew, hoping the journey would teach me the right lessons.
I packed my young life into a suitcase and moved to the United States. This transition was one of the hardest experiences I’ve ever faced. I truly believe that life and God support us when we take risks for our future. I am thankful that I took the chance for a better life.
This experience changed the direction of my plans and purpose in several ways. It sparked a passion in me to help others, especially Latina women who, like me, may have experienced big challenges. The strength I developed during this time became the foundation of my journey as an entrepreneur and my commitment to serve and inspire.
I realized that life’s toughest moments often lead to the most important growth. This has shaped my approach to both life and business. As a life coach and entrepreneur, I use my story to inspire others to embrace their own journeys, no matter how hard they may seem.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not know my story, let me tell you a bit about myself and my journey. My name is Camila Houston, and I was born in Ecuador. When I was 14, my grandmother, Mami Pepa, who raised me, passed away in my arms. This moment changed my life completely. It made me grow up fast and find ways to survive. I had to stop going to school to work, and I knew I needed a different path.
I reached out to my mother in the US and told her I was ready to start a new life. I packed my young life into a suitcase and moved to the United States. I learned from my loss to value every moment with family and never take anything for granted. Since then, I have cherished every day with my birth mother, grateful to build experiences and life together.
For the past six years, Houston has been more than just a city to me; it’s been a home. It’s where I have found many chances to inspire, connect, and support thousands of Latina women. From the moment I arrived, my passion to help others grew strong, leading me to create a community of over 200 vibrant Latinas in Houston.
I have always believed in the power of knowledge and self-discovery and wanted to share these tools with more women. As a life coach, my goal is to serve, inspire, and guide every person I meet toward personal growth and self healing. Thankfully, I met Ainoha and Catalina, two amazing and inspiring women, and together we created Sacred Souls. This is a women-only event and mini retreats focused on healing, empowerment, and reconnecting for Latina women in Houston.
My journey as an entrepreneur has taught me many life lessons. It has made me strong and determined. I have a Merchant Services Business in a corporate world that allows me to help small businesses across the US lower their processing fees every day. I’ve built my personal brand around media, radio, wellness events and festivals. These experiences have given me unique insights, knowledge and tools that I love to share at conferences where I get to speak. I enjoy talking about the power of community, how to reprogram your mindset, and overcoming the challenges of life and entrepreneurship.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story that truly shows my resilience is my decision to move to the United States. This was not just a change of scenery but a leap of faith that required me to leave behind everything I knew and loved.
Arriving in America was a huge experience. I was alone in a foreign land, trying to understand a new culture and language.
One of the hardest parts was loneliness. Without my family and friends, I had to make new friends and connections from scratch.
I worked many jobs to become independent at 18 and to be able to continue to follow my dreams and purpose at the same time. I have always been a curious girl, always knowing there was more out there to know, to experience, to feel, to achieve, to conquer. I always wanted to learn everything from experiences. This has given me great experiences but also the toughest lessons… These experiences taught me to be self-reliant, resourceful, and, above all, resilient. Through my journey, I have learned that resilience is not just about surviving; it’s about thriving despite the odds. It’s about using those lessons to build a foundation for a better future.
