We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Camila Hanisch a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Camila, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents taught me that all human beings are equal, the only difference is their circumstances. And I’m extremely grateful for that because every person I meet is a gift, and an opportunity to love, care, learn, and grow.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Since I remember, I have wanted to help people to see their problems in a new way, to look from a new perspective at what was happening in their lives and take the corresponding action. Of course, an 8-year-old girl doesn’t get much attention, and later learned that a good-intended friend could have some impact, but that was the most I could offer without credentials, and I really wanted to help people to be happy!
Then, on a good day, when I was done raising children and I ran out of excuses myself, I followed my own good-intended friends’ advice, and I went back to school. I was 52. After 3 years of college, I looked at my options from a different perspective and decided that instead of becoming a therapist I wanted to be a life coach. I knew I didn’t want to dwell in people’s past, even though professionally was the safest option, in the sense of finding employment and clients. What I really wanted was to help people to move forward to the life they wanted for themselves. So, I took the risk, I looked for the best coaching program I could find. I got my certification after 14 months of simultaneous and intensive work on myself and on my formation as a life coach…and then came another training, and another…
As a Certified Life Coach with training in the Fearless Living Institute, I’m able to offer the understanding of how fear keeps us stuck, feeling guilty, shameful, frustrated, victimized…ultimately, the dreadful feeling of not being good enough. On the other hand, with the teachings and support of Positive Intelligence, which is continuously giving me knowledge and training in Mental Fitness, I can provide my clients with scientifically proven tools to shift from negative self-talk to self-acceptance and at last, self-love. And there’s no better job in the world than helping people to love themselves.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
My training in both Mental Fitness and Fearless Living have been the best support in creating my life coaching business.
Both programs have their corresponding books, and these are Positive Intelligence, by Shirzad Charmine, and Fearless Living, by Rhonda Britten. (And both New York Times’ best-seller books)
Besides those, The War On Art, by Steven Pressfield was a great help when it comes to discipline and consistency.
Dr. Joe Dispenza is an endless source of knowledge and inspiration that one can use in all aspects of life, including business.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Is it enough to tell you that I got my certification as a life coach in January 2020? At the dawn of the pandemic?
I had already started with clients, and I thought I’d keep it rolling, but things got uncertain, as we all know, and potential clients didn’t feel comfortable investing in life coaching. Yet, certain that I could help people, I translated the Fearless Living program to Spanish to broaden my market, I got a new certification, this time as a trainer, and as such I facilitated (still do) workshops, which are a fraction of the investment of personal one-on-one coaching. I coached myself to make the best of the circumstances and thanks to that today I have more to offer to my clients. I’m proud to say that I walk the talk every day.
I’ve never given up because I’m certain of the positive ripple effect that follows when I help one person to be happier. I’ll never give up because I love what I do, I love my clients, and I’m proud of my positive and constructive contribution to the world.
What can I say? I’m passionate about what I do!
