Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cami Galofre. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cami, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of my most meaningful projects is my recent installation, Macarenia, at Convergence Station – Denver’s Meow Wolf. This project is perhaps one of my biggest achievements in my artistic career and it’s the one that I am the most proud of. It’s significantly important to me because of how much I learned from this experiences. Not only did it require a lot of planning and preparation, but making it a reality completely pushed me outside my comfort zone. It was a process that elevated my skills and creativity, and has allowed me to embrace bigger creative challenges.

Cami, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Colombian painter and installation artist based in Denver. My work presents abstract landscapes that depict themes of magical realism, identity, and environmentalism.
Entering the creative field has always felt like a natural trajectory. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a creative soul. My mom is an artist too, and art was something that I have always gravitated to. However, it wasn’t until I decided to go to grad school where I recognized that art was a career path that I wanted to take. Once I prioritized the development of my creative practice I was able to fully explore what that could look like for me in the “real world.” It has been a very fun and rewarding journey complete with hard work and commitment. I am thankful for all the opportunities that being an artist has brought me and look forward to whatever comes next!
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best way to directly support artists is to buy their creations, products or their services – this can be buying a painting, hiring a photographer, or paying an artist for their time if you are inviting them to present their work, speak, conduct workshops, etc. Arts funding can be an uphill battle and your support goes towards helping artists put more art into the world!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I start every year with new goals – whether being part of an exhibition, participating in a residency, or completing new projects. My mission, however, is to never stop creating. My goal is to continue to prioritize my practice and make art in whichever way possible.
