Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cameron Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cameron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We were working full time jobs while pursuing our company, Ironpulse. Instead of just talking about being different, we started taking action to prove that Ironpulse is unlike any brand you have been a part of before. Therefore, we began pioneering a new market for entrepreneurs and trendsetters, called Visionwear.
Visionwear provides the opportunity for us to invest back in like-minded individuals who pride themselves on taking the road less traveled. Meant for those who know no complacency, this apparel aides in fostering innovation while allowing you to conquer in comfort.
Starting a company is never easy, and Ironpulse is no exception. Some days it feels like it’s one step forward and two steps back. In times like these, it’s important to stay true to your companies mission and vision. The experiences you gain from your failures and challenges will set you up for success later on. We overcame these challenges by staying resilient, disciplined, and focused. At the end of the day, if you don’t enjoy the journey you’re on then it won’t last. Aim to be one percent better than where you were yesterday.
Since starting this company, we have gained a greater appreciation for entrepreneurship. In doing so, this has led us to wanting to be the go-to brand for entrepreneurs. We want the world to know that if you have a dream or passion, there is no better time to start than right now. The first week that the Covid-19 pandemic hit, we started working from home. Not knowing the extent of the pandemic at the time, we went all in and hit the ground running with Ironpulse. Don’t use the fear of uncertainty as a reason to not pursue your dreams.
Cameron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Both os us grew up with an entrepreneurial spirit, knowing that neither would thrive well in a clock in clock out corporate environment. Kyle looked to start his own clothing business in college, while I went on and created my own media entertainment company, Nebulos Entertainment. After college, we had begun discussing ideas for a new venture that involved fashion, fitness, and helping others find their entrepreneurial drive. That said, we decided to enter the apparel industry, just as Covid-19 had begun spreading around the world in March of 2020. While businesses began shutting down, we were opening theirs up. Since we both started working from home, this allowed us to put time and energy into Ironpulse. Knowing we wanted to create premium apparel, we focused our competitive advantage heavily on inspiring others to follow their passion and side hustle. Working long nights and into the early mornings enabled us to bring the first ever category within the apparel industry that literally invests back into consumers, Visionwear. Our ability to support the community beyond tangible items is what makes our company, Ironpulse, one-of-a-kind.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
BUilding a social media presence is not as easy as some make it out to be. It takes consistency, resilience, patience, and hard work. It really is a full time job if you want to succeed with it. Our social media continues to improve but it didn’t happen over night.
We built our audience on social media by always sticking and staying true to what we believe in as a company, which come down to our core values. Believe, Challenge, and Inspire. Within those words you have a shorter tagline of BE ALL IN, the “BE” in believe, “ALL” in challenge, and “IN” from inspire.
You have to:
-Believe in yourself, dreams only work when you do
-Challenge your limits, each struggle is a part of the story
-Inspire those around you! Don’t fit in when you were born to standout
When it comes to our target market and consumer group, these core values really speak to them. They know what it’s like to be all in. They want to be a part of a community that respects that and is willing to in turn help them through our loyalty program. We aim to continue to push the boundaries of what we are capable of when we set our minds to something. Being consistent with this messaging, engaging with the community, and creating value through the products and content we create have helped us build the social media following that we have today.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
We went to gradeschool and highschool together in Mars, PA. We both enjoyed playing video games like Minecraft or Call of Duty together throughout the week and would sometimes play football or hockey with friends on the weekends. When we went our seperate ways for college, we would always hangout during winter or summer breaks at the gym. Both getting the itch and drive for physical fitness, we would meet up at the gyms and just talk/workout for hours. Through the discussions and weight lifting sessions, we knew we would create a company one day even if we didn’t know exactly what it would be just yet. But we were confident something would come to us. Then we started to pair our issues and concerns with entrepreneurship and clothing and created our first company together, Ironpulse.
