Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cameron Patterson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cameron, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
When it came to growing on social media, the worst investment I made was buying a course. In the course, I realized everything they were teaching was information freely available online. That was when I truly realized there are no shortcuts. You can do all the research via courses but for me, the real way I learned was trial and error. Posting myself online doing my craft and navigating from there was and what I believe, is the best way to learn

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been doing music on and off most of my life. I started around 8 yrs old when I started taking piano lessons. I did that for about 5 or 6 yrs then I quit. There was something in me that has always been drawn to music ever since then. In college I started making beats and producing and about 3 yrs ago is when I decided to pursue music seriously. Since then, I’ve grown from making beats, to the entire production process and I’m now an artist. I produce, write, perform, mix and master all of my own music. I want to create music and tell my story. I believe there are a lot of people out there that have similar backgrounds to me, but at the same time, I feel like I have a really unique perspective on things and I aim to share that in my music.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think the best thing people can do to support artist and creatives are the things that don’t cost anything. Engaging with that art is the best thing. Whether its a like, comment, or share. Sharing my music with their friends and family so that my music reaches more people always helps and I pray that it also helps the person who listens to my music. Engaging with my music and adding it to their own playlists, using it in their own social media, and any other way the listener chooses to engage is always a blessing.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think this is best summed by one of my favorite independent artist “Nic D” that says “done is better than perfect”. I’ve always been a perfectionist and everything used to have to be absolutely perfect before I would put something out. I would have all of these beats sitting on my hard drive that no one ever heard. When I started pursuing music seriously, I came across that quote from him and it helped me get over that hump of everything having to be perfect before I put something out. I then started focusing on completing something and this led to me working on my craft even more by completing more music over time. By completing more I was able to develop a process in which I’m able to become more productive and worry less about some of the things that don’t matter. Making sure everything is perfect is something I had to unlearning, and quite frankly, still unlearning to this day.
