We were lucky to catch up with Cameron Hunt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cameron, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful in entrepreneurship, it takes days and nights of hard work. Most people go into business for money and unfortunately, those businesses don’t last due to them having the wrong vision. You have to decide early when starting your business whether are you willing to sacrifice time, family, savings, and mental stability for an uncharted future. People don’t understand that they don’t own the business the business owns them.
Cameron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started Tsunami because it was a passion project of mine. What started this was that most black men really never had any self-care items that we could openly go buy at our local convenience stores. What makes us different from most products is that we’re a fully plant-based hair and body company based out of Houston Tx but our brand openly includes all races and genders.
we make the following Items
-Leave in conditioner
-hair oil
-mousse
-shampoo
-deep conditioner
when you purchase from us everything you see down to the website, photography and branding were created by the owner.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
being in the streets, I cannot streets enough that you need to be at a pop-up weekly to build trust with old and new customers. but also you need to be going door to door to show, display and sell your products,
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
we often build our relationships with schools, barbershops, and retail stores.
