We were lucky to catch up with Cameron Currie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cameron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Learning the craft of hip hop has taught me many things outside of music. Like understanding purpose, goals and morals. I lot of that gets tested on this journey so learning myself is something learning hip hop has led me to pay more attention to.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is C.A.M. The Creative Artistic Mind and I’m born and raised in the West Englewood area of Chicago. Im 33yrs old and youngest of 7. When I was around 9yrs old I dabbled in rap and use to write poetry as well. One of the first songs I heard growing up was Kriss Kross “Jump” and ever since hearing them I wanted to rap and then as I got a little older I was introduced to artist like Nas, Common, Crucial Conflict, Jay-z ect. Which brought me to hip hop and I fell in love with the culture of hip hop and wanted to know how I could be apart of it. What sets me apart is in most of my music I don’t curse and I give you the best of both worlds with lyricism and a good vibe. My sister Candice Marie who is a singer was the first person to get me to perform on stage and I was nervous but I still did it and ever since then I knew I’ll be doing this for a long time. One of the moments I’m most proud of is meeting my mentor Add-2 who is an artist and founder of Haven Studios. He introduced me to so much in the industry and even got me to be a mentor myself for “Guitars Over Guns” and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life so far. One of the main things I want people to know about me and my artistry is that I’m all about building community not just for me but for the younger generations as well to give them experiences they might not be able to get for themselves and to help be a guide in their lives.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of my goals is to have my own studio for the youth.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to connect with the ones that feel unheard or unseen by simply speaking on experiences that may connect with them and hopefully motivate/inspire them as well.
