We were lucky to catch up with Cameron Blaylock recently and have shared our conversation below.

Cameron, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

My support system did an incredible job raising me. Life wasn’t always peaches and cream growing up, but my mother and grandmother made sure I stayed focused on the brighter side of things. Their strength and guidance helped shape my mindset and set me on a path to become someone greater than what my environment might have predicted. I owe a lot of who I am to them.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m a collegiate football player currently pursuing my master’s degree while working toward my goal of playing professionally. My journey hasn’t been easy—it didn’t start at the top. I’ve experienced the game from every angle, from the lowest valleys to the highest peaks. Those challenges have shaped me not just as an athlete, but as a person.

What I’m most proud of, though, is my relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without Him, I wouldn’t have the strength to be where I am or the character to become who I am today.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I began my college football career as a Preferred Walk-On at the University of Memphis. During my time there, my mother suffered a brain aneurysm and lost most of her memory. That life-changing moment forced me to step up—not just as a student-athlete, but as a son and older brother. I took on a job to help cover school expenses and care for my younger brother.

Eventually, I entered the transfer portal and took a leap of faith by enrolling in junior college—with no scholarship, no money, and no guarantees. But I bet on myself. I used that opportunity to build my name, get re-recruited, and ultimately position myself and my family for a better future—on and off the field

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I believe the product I consistently put on the field and the character I carry off of it have built my reputation. Together, they’ve shown coaches, teams, companies, and brands the true value I’ve always known I had.
