We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cameo Turner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cameo below.
Hi Cameo, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
As a yoga teacher in a certain special field I cater to the plant lovers. I wanted to host a Ganja Yoga Mothers Day (CannaMoms Event) at a Crystal shop in Oakland California. After Calling the owner for months with no response, I lost faith and did not think it would happen that year. About three weeks before Mothers day I got a 333 number I did not know calling me and almost did not answer but something told me to. It was the owner of Queen Hippie Gypsy Crystal Shop finally returning my call. In perfect alignment she loved the idea and wanted to create an entire day event. However I did not really realize all the moving parts, completely overwhelmed. Within a few days I received the flier, now I only had about 500 followers at the time before reels came on the scene. Still I promoted this every day, this was my 1st real event, the first time I was stepping into my role as the First Black Certified Ganja Yoga Teacher in Northern California. This was a really big deal. With a change in career this was the first time I had no boss and I was running the show literally.
The day of the event I was so worried about everything, mind going a mile a minute and my heart was racing. I had been running around learning how to connect with sponsors and other presenters. Right before the doors opened, I was informed all 3 sessions were Sold Out! My first sell out ever. On something that I created, invisionsed, and hosted. Over 40 minority women came together for meditation, yoga, sound bath and food. In the heart of Oakland California it was absolutely amazing!
On the drive home, I cried. To see my vision of women, mothers and minorities who have been affected by the war on drugs to have a safe space. To meet other women who are healing together, making connections, meeting new people and running into people they have not seen in years. Watching this all enfold on mothers day, was worth every day I waited for that return call from the shop owner. Where I know host classes twice a month

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Cameo but I go by Lady Namastizzle. I am the 1st Black Certified Ganja Yoga Teacher in Northern California. Hosting Ganja Yoga Classes & Natural Plant Healing workshops in the urban community in the heart of the Bay Area. Helping to get minorities to choose “plants over pills”. Creating a safe space for minorities to learn about whole plant natural remedies.
I began on the Plant Medicine Journey after using CBD to heal my body naturally without the use of pain pills. After a life of severe food allergies to medications and foods. For the better of my body I had to learn how and what to use naturally so I did not have to make 2 ER trips. One for the problem and One for the allergic reaction.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My reputation took a while to build for me. Engaging interactions with peoples questions on plant usage for healing naturally made a few people at a time feel like they could trust me. Always learn about new remedies to share. Offering knowledge of the Ebers Papyrus (the oldest medical textbook) and science journals. People always say “we learn something new every class”. Building myself up one person at a time but I made a difference &/or they learned something from me!

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
We create one of a kind Mala Prayer beads for mantras and prayers. Instead of selling on the website we decided to increase the views of our product by using Etsy. The audience is world wide versus only those who view my site. The fees behind the $0.20 listing, the pressure to have free shipping and the 12% fee of the total listing once sold. It ends up becoming a 20-25% higher price increase. Many tags are involved to come up in all categories that are related to your product. It’s best to review simaliar products with top sales and use what they used just like hashtags.
