We were lucky to catch up with Cameo Bobo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cameo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One year my son and I took a trip to Washington DC. During our time in D.C. I discovered that New York City was only a short distance away, So we bought a bus ticket and spent the day in NYC. The bus dropped off dead in the middle of Time Squares very near to my favorite store at the time H&M.
My son and I entered the store, parted ways and begin shopping. Half way through our time in the store, My son approached me and said, “Mom did you see the sign? It’s says you can walk the runway as a model and they will put on the jumbotron outside.” I looked and him strangely and went back to shopping.
As walked towards the door to exit the store. My son once again said, “Mom did you see the sign?’ I replied, “What sign?!?” He then pointed to the third floor of the store. And there is was a HUGE sign that read, “Come walk our runway. If we like you we’ll put you on the jumbotron.”
Before I could finish reading the sign I was running up the steps to the third floor. The third floor was a full runway, lights and a live DJ. I asked the DJ for instructions and filled out the iPad with my info and walked that runway!!!
After I walked the runway the DJ, said I’d receive an email saying if my walk was approved and the time it would be displayed on the jumbotron. An hour later, I stood across the street from the H&M in NYC Times Square watching myself walk the runway on their JUMBOTRON.
Now how was this a risk? At the start of each year, I write out my goals. That particularly year my goal was to get my clothing line FAWM more exposure. I was brainstorming ideas for exposure and thought, “I need a NYC billboard in Times Square!
I immediately then thought, “How much would that cost?’ I then heard something inside say, “Don’t worry about the cost. Just write it down.” So I did…
Later that year. I was featured on the NYC H&M Times Square billboard wearing my FAWM clothing…at no cost!
Take the risk. It’s always worth it in the end.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! First things first, yes, my “real” name is Cameo Bobo.
Now that I have your attention lol, here’s a little about myself! I’ve been featured on H&M’s Time Square billboard, authored a bestselling book, and had three hit singles on the radio.
Additionally, I’m CEO of a girl’s program and shopwithcameo.com boutique.
My most rewarding accomplishment is being a mom to an amazing son!
So, how’d I become this multi-faceted, multi-passionate version of myself? Well, I started out as a Fashion Designer and Stylist participating in fashion shows around Tennessee. During that time, I met Bobby Jones (BET Gospel) and began hosting a talent competition show and producing a fashion show for two of his nationally syndicated shows.
From there, I discovered a love for music and became a music artist, releasing my first single, FAWM (Fearfully and Wonderfully Made). FAWM, transformed into a girl’s program. Then life threw a hard punch and I went through a difficult breakup that led me to make a decision to purposely give myself and my goals 100%! My most recent single, “2023 Is My Year” is available now!
These transformational changes led to me becoming a Goal Coach, and author, of “The Best Life Formula” book and starting a membership for women entrepreneurs to help them achieve their goals every 90 days!
My life purpose is to inspire others to make transformational changes and live their best lives through my books, services, music, and products. I’m grateful for my journey and could not make it without the faithfulness and grace of Jesus Christ in my life!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes! Here’s are my list of Book MUST reads:
1. Believe Bigger by Marshawn Evans Daniels
2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
3. Battle of the Mind by Joyce Meyer
4. You’re a Badass by Jen Sincero
5. A Pocket Full of Money by David Cameron Gikandi

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Support one another. Attend each others events. Buy your fellow creatives products, share their products. Shout them out on social and share their posts. Help your fellow creative by sharing their products and greatness.
