Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Camaron Cartwright. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Camaron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful it take a lot of heart, dedication, and determination. Everything must truly come from the heart, that provides you with the drive that you need to see things through and it makes it personal to a certain extent. Dedication and determination go hand-in-hand and are huge determining factors in the outcome of your success.
Camaron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a cosmetologist and salon owner and I have truly known beauty my entire life. I come from a long line of cosmetologists including my mother, grandmother, and aunt. I developed a love and passion for hair and beauty at a very young age and I could not see life without it.
Cosmetology encompasses hair, skin, and nails but my expertise is hair. I have a very consistent clientele that is continuously growing mainly from word of mouth or clients meeting others throughout their day-to-day. When my clients come in for their appointment I have an intimate setting where my time is truly devoted to them through the duration of their service. The problems that are resolved during their time with me range from developing plans to achieve certain hair goals to being a listening ear and providing insight to help with their personal lives. In my position as a cosmetologist I do not just focus on the outter appearance and the health of the hair but I try to ensure that my clients feel just as great on the inside as well. It has often been said that hair stylists are like therapists and I find it to be so true. Clients find comfort in knowing that you care and they trust your insight when sharing information with you.
I believe what sets me apart from the rest of the cosmetologists in my industry is my personal background and exposure to beauty throughout my life, my educational background in business as I do hold a Bachelor’s in Business Management and an MBA specializing in entrepreneurship, and lastly my heart. I am very passionate about my craft and I care a great deal for my clients many of which have become great friends and some like family.
I am most proud of my growth as a cosmetologist and my will power to be successful in my business. COVID-19 really changed my perspective of things and it was tough on the beauty industry in 2020, nonetheless, I sustained my business and have grown so much from that.
For all of my potential clients to come, I would love for you to know that you would be working with an awesome cosmetologist with a great heart and a vast amount of knowledge to meet your healthy hair care needs. I have clients that I have been servicing for 10+ years and they remain satisfied. You truly would not be simply coming to an appointment but to a warm and welcoming environment where I can guarantee your satisfaction with my hair care services.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has honestly been old fashioned conversation, word of mouth, my work speaking for itself when others see it, and social media. I receive many clients from simply having a conversation and my work as a cosmetologist becoming the topic of conversation. I also receive great feedback from my clients followed with them expressing the interest of others to become clients as well and them sharing my information. Social media has also been a great help, I have had a number of clients come in based upon what they see on my social media page.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
COVID-19 was the most pivotal time in my career and my business. I had to make a number of changes and adjustments based on the state of the country, healthcare, and my business. I was truly unsure of what the future held and had many concerns with close interaction with clients and trying to remain safe across the board. There was also the concern of finances in the event that the industry did take an even heavier hit. Upon the reopening of salons and facilities in the beauty industry I decided to downsize and relocate. That was the best move that I could have made and at the time I did not know it. But I can truly say that was the best decision I could have made for my business.
