We were lucky to catch up with Camarie Casper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Camarie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever had an amazing boss? What did you learn from them? Maybe you can share a story that illustrates the kind of boss they were or maybe you can share your thoughts on what you think made them an awesome person to work for?
The best boss I ever had was, myself. I say this because with working in the corporate world since my teen years unto adulthood, I have had to deal with attitudes and the unpleasantries of relying on someone else to source competition for my work.
When God gave me the opportunity to start my own business. To thrive so successfully within the past six years, I have realized I love who I have become. I allow myself mental health days off so that I can serve my children, husband, family and community/clients better. I don’t have to ask permission to have these days off to myself to be there for my family. How cool is that!
I don’t have to do deal with attitudes, heavy work loads. Now, because I am in charge and I am able to delegate my days so that I’m not overwhelmed and I could take pride and seeing each CLIENT every day with a smile on my face. Also as an entrepreneur and salon owner, I’m able to make sure that all of my tenants are happy and satisfied with their work environment along with making sure everyone feels welcomed and never has to worry about anything while working in our facility. I continue to thank God for this opportunity since he is clearly making this roadmap for me to follow.

Camarie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, hello there!
My name is Cami and I am the owner and operator of Charmed Beauty Company. I own two salon suites here in Augusta, Georgia, and I will be opening up a third location in Hepzibah Georgia in November 2025.
I worked as a certified dental assistant and surgical dental assistant from 2012-2019.
I had all intentions of continuing dentistry and retiring in that field. However, three months before the pandemic I realized I was not fully happy with my compensation in that field, and realized that I was never going to achieve the goals. I wanted financially if I did not change the trajectory of the journey.
Now, as an entrepreneur, I am able to teach those who want to learn the same skill I provide daily into their own careers. I have taught at many local beauty schools, elementary, and middle schools, along with community events, and I have now started my own women’s nonprofit organization. Called Picnic and Prayer experience.
I am most proud of how I was able to come out of a situation where I was barely making any money to now making over six figures for the last several years. This has taught me a lot about one how to understand the money usage. Along with also how to grow a business from only $500.
If I can share anything about my business, I would want to share with the world is that I actually love what I do every single day. This is not only a gift from God, but this is a dream that I only dreamt could happen in God made that a reality. Servicing clients in the beauty industry is very rewarding because it always puts a smile on their face at the end of the service. Who wouldn’t want that for a career? If you ever wanted to enjoy a service from the time you walked into the time that you left please come visit me anytime at Charmed Beauty Company.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I decided to resign from my dental position and career, I realized I only had a few clients, and I wanted to make sure that grew quickly to surpass my financial loss. Although I did have a few clients, I was working with in a private location after work every day. It would not be enough to fully quit my dental career and be able to survive. However, little by little, I decided to make posts on social media.
Once I was able to keep a rhythm of how many times I would post on social media, it began to reach out to individuals by referrals.
However, the jump to digital social media advertisements came from the pandemic. Although I had started my business at the worst time in history, March 2020. Everyone remaining home during the pandemic dug deep into social media and that thrived my business. I received thousands of messages and comments inquiring my services. Potential clients were noticing pictures and previous work that I have done while sitting at home waiting to return back into the world. I did not take that lightly. I sprung into action. Paying for more commercial advertisement and etc. I also began to post more even old work that I would just repost and I began to make sure I connected with clients who were taking even the smallest interest in. hopes that they would try to schedule an appointment. They did. Once we were allowed to begin work again from the pandemic had over a 50 person waiting list and I knew right then this was the avenue to take.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Yes, I take pride in how I respond and respect my clientele whether they actually are my clients or our inquiring. My job is to help them feel completely comfortable in their decision-making with coming to our company.
I like to say that I am the Chick-fil-A of beauty. Always available and always going above and beyond to make sure that my clients feel like they made the best decision.
