We recently connected with Cam Simone and have shared our conversation below.
Cam , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I’ve been a singer since I can remember, ever since I was little I knew I wanted to be an entertainer. As I got older and started to pursue my music career fully, it wasn’t until then that I realized how much hard work and dedication would go into pursing my dreams, and even with all the hard work and dedication i had to learn that there will be losses along the way. I took a break from music and went to school for psychology. After graduating I realized I wasn’t happy working in a corporate world, so I took a risk and decided to fully invest myself in my music. Five years later I am now writing songs for tv shows and movies and performing at sold out venues all over the country. Although taking that risk terrified me, I’m so thankful that I did.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
From a young age my parents had be involved in many actives including dance and performing arts. I was a competitive dancer in all genres for 13’ years and in a competitive choir group for 3. Growing up in Chicago was a major influence on the music I make today. After moving to Atlanta at age 16 I realized house music was not very popular in the south and I wanted to bring something new to the table. With inspiration from my idol Janet Jackson, I began creating house music mixed with r&b in order to create a vibe that people would want to move and dance to. My music is known for making others feel good and ultimately that’s all I’ve ever wanted. In 2022 I began also writing and singing songs for tv shows such as BET’s “All the Queens Men” and others. Since then I have expanded myself to not only be an artist but a writer, singer and producer.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
The Playlist Academy is an amazing artist development program that I joined in 2023 that has helped me grow tremendously. Since joining I’ve learned so much about the music business, created music with some extremely talented Atlanta artist and have had the opportunity to perform at venues in and outside of Atlanta. If I would have known about the team sooner I would have absolutely joined way early.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect about being an artist is being able to be vulnerable in my music and people enjoying or being able to relate to whatever I may be singing about. My music is my therapy, and I only hope that my music can be therapy to my fans or anyone that enjoys my music. I sing about my life struggles, good and bad. My goal is to make music for those who can’t always say what they’re feeling but need to express it in other ways
