We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cam Clear a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cam, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea to start a 7v7 football team that isn’t try-out based but only sign-ups came from recognizing a gap in the youth sports world. I noticed that a lot of talented and passionate players were getting overlooked simply because they didn’t stand out in a single tryout. I wanted to create a space where development came first, where kids of all skill levels could get real coaching, consistent reps, and a chance to grow. By removing the barrier of tryouts, the focus shifts to learning and development, not just immediate performance.

Cam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I came into the industry as a former NFL Player, from playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. My experience of playing Division 1 Football for Texas A&M and furthering my career to play pass then gives me the experience and expertise to train and coach youth athletes. Because I know what it takes, I can guide athletes on the proper path to get them to a place I’ve already been before. I think that’s what separates me from other coaches in the industry. Most of them are teaching plays, here at Clear Elite we are teaching fundamental concepts. This is what I’m most proud of about our program. We understand that every athlete may be at a different level for their journey and we have the expertise and guidance to help them achieve further.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I started my college football career with a D1 scholarship. Something I had dreamed of my whole life. I had worked for it, trained for it, and earned it. But I made a mistake. I got in trouble off the field, and it cost me. I was suspended from the team and the program. In an instant, everything I had worked for felt like it was slipping through my hands.
I had two choices. Either feel sorry for myself, or face it head-on. I chose the hard road which was JUCO. Giving up was never an option. I enrolled at a junior college, knowing it wasn’t glamorous. No packed stadiums, no media attention, no full-ride scholarship. But what JUCO gave me was something more important. They gave me a second chance. It was humbling, it was gritty, and it demanded everything from me.
I had to rebuild not just my resume, but my reputation. I learned discipline, accountability, and what it really meant to be a teammate and a leader. I stopped taking the game for granted and started playing like every snap was my last.
After a season of grinding in JUCO, I got another opportunity at the D1 level. This time, I came back not just as a better player, but as a better man. When I stepped back on that field, wearing a Division 1 jersey again, I didn’t just feel proud, I felt resilient. I knew I didn’t just earn my spot back. I fought for it.
My story isn’t about a perfect path. It’s about falling, getting back up, and showing that mistakes don’t define you, how you respond does.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot in my career when the realization came that football really doesn’t last forever. I had been signed and cut from many different teams within a year which took a mental and emotional toll on my purpose. I knew I had so much more to offer to the game. Transitioning from player to coach was a pivotal move in my career. My love and passion for the game was reignited after spending time with the kids at my child’s school. Them wanting to play catch with me led me to showing them the proper techniques to catching. Before I knew it, I was starting my first little league team.
