Calvin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think first you have to decide was success looks like to you. Once you can visualize your version of success then you can say what it means to be successful. For me success is the freedom to choose how to spend your day. Thats a luxury that I want to be able to share with the people I hold near and dear to my heart.

Atom BLK is an internationally published photographer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In addition to photography and videography he runs a team of models that are available for booking for projects. The process of creating is something truly amazing. There is no better feeling than thinking of something and executing the idea.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
There is a certain hunger that can’t be satisfied with being a creative. It’s always there. In the back of your mind. You will get inspired by something and feel the need to create. You can’t help it and the people that are not creative will not understand it. You can go to bed at 4am and wake up at 8am to finish the work. You’re getting just enough sleep to rest but your body won’t let you sleep long because it knows that greatness is on the way.
Any advice for managing a team?
The most important part is finding the right team. Next you have to be a good listener. Allow people to voice their opinions on things and being able to address any concerns that they might have. You also have to get people to understand this is a team sport when one wins, we all win.
