We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful CallMeKidd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with CallMeKidd below.
CallMeKidd, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
So, the time I was terminated from a job when I was one of the best employees at the position I had opened my eyes to focusing more directly on myself. I was an employee to show up on time, go beyond and above to do my duty. There was plenty moments where I’d give it 100% and it was still ways to improve. No matter what I did at the job it just didn’t seem enough. I started to question myself a bit and then it hit me, I’m not meant to be where I was. I would be around colleagues and friends and recite my Haikus, or different raps to them and I’d always say it was Jay-Z… that new Lil Wayne song… they loved the rhyme I recited! and when they couldn’t find it I’d let them know it was my rhymes they’ll tell me it was Alright… it was OK. So since I tricked them to believe it was somebody else it gave me more motivation to pursue music and everything that was on my heart. Being fired from someone else work place that I was good at, and my friends letting me know they like my rhymes motivated me to keep creating, and take it to another level.

CallMeKidd, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Growing up in South Central LA it’s about being true and honest to who you are. Being one of the youngest kids of the group I’d always be genuine to what I was interested in and the people closest to me. Friends and family would let me know I’m too honest, and how true I was to what I feel and think.
Being discipline enough to write, no time in just clubbing, or not being in the studio… I practically live in the studio…just trying to perfect my craft, my writing and doing it day and night time sharpening my mind and pen. Performing at my shows, so many people would like my attire and ask me about what I’m wearing so I figured to create my clothing brand about who I am, and most importantly what the world should gravitate towards in the clothing industry, which is genuine pieces and items that will make the world a better place. I named my clothing brand Authentic because of the person I am and grew to be.
I do giveaways for the youth at random and holidays.
Creating events to where the youth can come and learn and gain insight on life growing up and help with homework after school. I love to be there as a support factor for the kids in the inner city kids that don’t have father figures or adult male figures to communicate with. My perseverance is something I noticed that others would lack and consistency in my art is what got me at this point in my career, multiple albums independently and creating a clothing brand that goes in line with the music is what my fans love. Staying Authentic to my supporters and evolving with them as I grow is what I can say help me develop my craft.
I’m most proud of the determination, it’s tough to be an independent artist, to record, mix and master, shoot music videos which isn’t cheap, and to find or create album art that matches the tone of music created, working with new producers and staying in the zone with those I started with like Lee Blackman is what gives me the strength to continue out my path.
Things I do for my listeners is just providing them with an Authentic person, genuine artist that they can listen to and pull out some positive energy but remaining thorough to self. The support from my team is what moves me entirely. My brand of music and lifestyle is to just be yourself, remain who you are to the core and not compromising who you are for what you want.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have many goals in my creative journey, one goal I’ll speak to existence is to collaborate with the Make A Wish Foundation and make dreams come true for the youth that has been faced with challenges in life and cancer patients. My baby brother which is my biggest inspiration in life passed away due to a rare cancer so I am energized each day to make awareness and educate the world of Autism and give back to those communities and families.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
@Wallo267 on IG & GaryVee.
Them two guys, watching there videos on YouTube gave me complete inspiration on my path to creating and living in my daily.
If you know either one of the two I mentioned then you’re in a great place to receive advice or change your process. Wallo is a ghetto genius that will give you chills, his passion spills over and makes you feel like he’s directly speaking to you. GaryVee is a business guru with so much hustle and grit, it’s like he understands everyone and where everyone is to get you on your feet.
