Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cali Tucker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cali, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I worked on happened during quarantine of 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. All of my shows in Las Vegas were canceled and I found myself isolated and scared about the future of my business and career.
However, after the initial shock of what was happening to me and the rest of the world, I began to calm myself and refocus my attention to my songwriting. My normal performance schedule had been quite hectic, taxing, and I never had much time to focus on writing like I use to. So I had my producer (PK) and co-writer (Tricia Battani) come out to Vegas and we locked ourselves in my home and began to write and record my debut EP. It was a freedom I had not felt in so long. I had no other obligations but to focus on what I wanted to write about and we created a new sound that I had never been able to express. It was an absolutely beautiful experience.
I released my first single “Dandelion” in November 2021 and am set to release my next single “Urban Cowboy” in 2022. I’m so proud of what we accomplished during such a weird and scary time in the world. We definitely made lemonade out of lemons.

Cali, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Cali Tucker, originally from Nashville, TN, but have been living and performing in Las Vegas for the past several years. I am a country pop singer/songwriter. I’m currently living in Nashville for the next year as I begin to release songs from my EP and build my team.
I began my love of music and performing at a very young age. My mother (LaCosta Tucker) and aunt (Tanya Tucker) are country music artists. I fondly remember traveling the country on a tour bus and being invited on stage with them to wave at the crowd. However, it wasn’t until I started songwriting and performing my own shows that I realized that this was my deepest passion and purpose.
It has taken me a long time to figure out my sound, brand, and writing style but it’s been a journey of learning and growing. I had shoes to fill that weren’t my size so I had to keep shopping. I was never meant to follow what was expected of me but to pave a new path carrying on this incredible legacy in my own way.
My country music, as I see it, is diverse and has something for everyone. As much as I want lovers of country music to appreciate my sound I also want pop fans to feel like this is for them too. I want to broaden my fan base as big and wide as I can.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I always said I should have been a country artist in the 90’s because I wouldn’t have had to deal with the enormous pressure of social media!
Just when I think I’ve got one figured out another one pops up and that’s more important. I feel like the music industry puts a lot of pressure on artists to be overly active on social media. I grew up in a time when it was bad to be on the computer or watch too much TV and our parents told us to go outside.
Needless to say I’ve never been very techie and I struggle with how to use all this new technology to my benefit. I wish I had the resources long ago or a even the passion for social media that a lot of people do but buts just not in my heart. I would rather be writing a song, performing, shaking someone’s hand, etc.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I can honestly say that if I wasn’t actively performing or writing that I would not be a whole person. It is the meaning of my existence and if I go too long without writing or performing I get very depressed. I eat, sleep, and breathe music. I wish I knew why this love is so intense but I can’t explain it.
At the end of the day I want to be in a position of success that can turn around and help others succeed in their passion for music. I know how tough this industry is and if I can support other artists achieve their dreams, then I feel like I will have truly made my mark.
