We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cali Floyd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cali thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
There is a quote that reads, “The greater the risk, the greater the reward” and I truly agree with it. When you take a risk, you never know what will happen, but with positive thoughts something great can occur. I am known for taking risks, you can ask anyone in my family or my friends. You have to believe that when you take a risk, whether it is successful or failed, you can alway learn from it. I like to say you take the lesson with you instead of a loss. When it comes to business, risks are needed to be taken. You miss shots that you do not take, so why not risk something knowing you will gain knowledge behind the result. Last year, I took a risk and promised myself not pass up any opportunities that have the potential to benefit either my business, my health or increase my knowledge. So far, I am succeeding and I know I have more risks to take, that will help me reach. goals I have in all areas of my life.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Cali Chaos Customs, LLC is a custom apparel printing business, brought to life in the beginning of the COVID pandemic in March, 2020. As a child, I loved to dress differently, modify jeans and shirts to express myself. The products I offer are custom shirts, hoodies and hats for individuals, families, businesses or leisure. What makes my work custom and sets me apart from another printing company, is the incorporation of color, using tie-dye, acid wash and the paint splatter style. I love to create with color and help bring ideas to life. I specialize in group shirts for family trips, reunions, business leisure events and birthday parties for children. I am most proud of my customers continuous support for the past three years. My customers keep me motivated, especially when I am able to use their idea and freestyle. I believe self expression is best using clothing and color! I would like for potential customers to know that the sky is the limit when it comes to art and beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. When customizing your apparel, you get first class customer service, clear communication and a unique design made just for you, your family and/or business. Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives my creative journey is my own personal journey. I love to support, motivate and encourage others and one way to do that is with clothing. I encourage spreading peace and love, to everyone I encounter. My goal is to change the life or leave an impression on everyone I encounter, whether it be for a long time or brief moment.
My most meaningful tattoos I have are located above each kneecap, one says peace, the other says love. I am on a mission to change the world, where there is peace, there is love. We all have our own failures, downfalls, moments without joy and happiness, but if we treated each other with care, gentleness, compassion, offer love and peace, we can get through anything with faith. Words are uplifting, I am here to uplift.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by sending direct messages regarding my business. I post consistently and engaged with my followers by having a giveaway, asking for feedback and reviews. The advice I have for the ones starting to build their social media presence, is to be consistent, current and friendly. Engagement is key.
