We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Caleigh Boyd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Caleigh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I can say with confidence that I am happy as an artist. Art in every form is something that I always have been & always will be extremely passionate about. It has been the most consistent & constant thing in my whole life & I am in love with it. There are times that I wonder how my life would be if I wouldn’t have dropped out of college & I get worried that I won’t be taken seriously in life. But every time I have those thoughts, I am equally comforted by the feeling that I am on the exact path that I need to be on.
Caleigh, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been creating for as long as I can remember. It has always been a way for me to express myself & my emotions, but I used to keep it very private. After moving to Nashville, a co-creator & I started Visualized Karma – our own little art collective in which we create together. We share a studio now & create mostly paintings using acrylics & different textures & mediums. We also host a small weekly art night & sometimes have a booth at a market, but we are always looking for new ways to integrate ourselves more into the art community here.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to do what I love & having the opportunity to share some of the most intimate aspects of my life through my artwork.
