We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Caleb The Artist. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Caleb below.
Caleb, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
All my life I’ve been surrounded by music, I come from a very musically inclined family that was rooted heavily in church, and growing up it was pretty much an requirement to use your gift to sing. I learned mostly from the elders and what I saw them do and also listening to different genres of music. So my training for 10 years (grade school to high-school) required many nights of piano lessons, Theater rehearsals, Choir rehearsals that gave me tools to be successful in my career today.
I would have continued taking piano lessons to speed up my learning process.
For me, the skills I think were most essential would be the proper technique of singing, learning how to blend in a group, dynamic singing, music theory knowledge, stage design, stage etiquette.
Self-doubt played a big part growing up, certain times I was too shy of letting my voice be heard based off judgement. So I’ve learned over the years to let go, let god, and allow him to use me as a vessel to paint a picture through my music in hopes to overcome the trails and obstacles that have come my way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Caleb the Artist, I’m a Singer/Songwriter, Producer from Saint Louis, Mo. At the early age of 4, I had a passion for music. From hosting at-home concerts as a child. Going on to do musical theater, playing the piano, & choir throughout middle & high school. I continued to be musically inclined. Growing up, I was heavily inspired by Gospel, Hip-hop, Soul, & Country. I recorded, produced & released my first single “5” in early 2017 several EP’s and has blazed a trail for his music career ever since.
For services I do write/co-write with other artist, vocal arrange.
The trait that sets my apart from others in my artistry is when I write, it’s coming from first hand experience. I like to say, shout out to my girl K. Michelle I relate to her on this. She states “I write my life” and I feel as an artist/creative it’s my duty to reflect of things I’ve been through. It’s not just for me or about me, music transcends and I know my lyrics are meant to be felt. So when you hear me sing its coming from a place of knowing.
I’m most proud of living out the dream/ standing in the purpose of younger me, I know the inner child in me is healing.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started my social media presence in the height of when instagram was still growing, I still have photos of the original filters lol! Sounding a bit old there, but I started small in my city connected with other people who lived here and started posting funny videos. Then once I noticed the traction I started posting videos of cover song and taking request of my followers of what they wanted to hear me sing. I made sure to make it a priority a long time ago to always stay humble, down to earth and build genuine connections to your audience.
For advice I’d say again stay humble, down to earth, build genuine connections to your audience and be authentic to you!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Hearing what my artistry and/or music has done for them. I’ve had people say songs have helped them through depression, sadness, worry, etc. That right there, knowing that what god is saying through me has a way of touching people’s spirit in a way to shift their frequency. That’s the rewarding feeling that’s what drives me to keep going.
