We were lucky to catch up with Caleb Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Caleb, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Ever since childhood, I’ve always possessed a passion for media. In the mornings while getting ready for school, I would always watch Sportscenter and my favorite host was the late Stuart Scott. After school, I would faithfully watch Terrance J and Rocsi host 106 & Park and Ahmad Rashaad interviewing my favorite athletes.
With that being said, the visualization of young, Black, fly, and talented journalists showed me that I too could connect with my audience in the same manner that my predecessors connected with me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

While attending Georgia Stare University, I interned at a podcast studio, “Live Hip Hop Daily”, where I gained first-hand exposure of how to successfully run a podcast studio under the owner H’s guidance.
This life changing experience inspired me to create a safe space for creatives. Subsequently, after graduating from Georgia State University, me and my partner Sydney Harris launched our production company “3 Milli Productions” and later our studio.
The problems that we solve for our clientele is that we serve as a one stop shop for creatives for a low and affordable price. Whether they’re in need of producing their podcast, hosting an event, enhancing their content, social media marketing, or simply just getting started on their creative journey, or mission and our motto is to help you “unleash your creative genius.”
Hence, our attention to detail and high level of care truly helps us stand out.
What I’m most proud of us is the substance and powerful conversations along with people who are highlighted on my podcast, “3 Milli Podcast” as well as the positive impact the conversations leaves on the people.
I’m also most proud of the joy that our production company and studio brings to our clientele. I love seeing them walk in with just an idea and leave our space feeling like family while also having their content come to life in a way that they could never imagine.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The particular goal or mission that’s driving my creative journey is to provide the necessary resources that creatives need to enhance their content and tell the stories in the way that they know best.
So often, the biggest determining factor that prolongs or even stops a creative’s vision is the access to proper equipment, people, team, and studio while juggling the confines of being within an affordable budget. Hence, our mission at “3 Milli Productions” is to bridge that gap and make the impossible possible for them and catapult the trajectory of their careers..
Another factor driving my creative journey for my media platform, “3 Milli Podcast” is to provide young, Black creatives, intellectuals, and everyday people with empowering and educating conversations for the betterment of my people. And, with the common goal of constructing viable solutions for the upliftment of our communities as well as future generations.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is brining your vision to life. It’s truly a spiritual experience to receive an idea that most would deem crazy and crafting it together with the help of your team and creating something beautiful.
Through the process of creation, your gradually learn the importance of trusting your inner-voice, while allowing the world around you to help shape the inspiration and execution of your ideas.
And, after bringing your ideas to life, it’s nothing like your peers loving what you’ve created.
