We were lucky to catch up with Caleb Kelly recently and have shared our conversation below.

Caleb, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?

I have owned and operated a music recording studio for 6 years. Through this process, I learned to put business before passion. There have been moments where I looked out (Provided Free Service) to some of my clients based on how much I liked their work but in the long run, I can see the decision to do so had little to no benefit to the success of my business.

Caleb, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Kelly, known professionally as Kellybangaz, is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, and recording artist based in Greenville, NC. Kelly’s production has garnered praise from notable recording artists such as DaBaby. He also assisted his hometown (Greenville. NC) in receiving millions of streams from his unique production style and extreme attention to detail. He has now stepped into a new chapter as a solo recording artist with his debut EP “Candid” on February 25, 2019, he shows an entirely different side of his skill set. By producing the majority of his musical compositions, writing, and recording himself he gives you an authentic sound unlike any other. His future is sure to be bright in the world of music.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I was naive enough to believe that if my music was good I would make it far in the music industry, but that was a lie. The truth is the real keys to success are marketing and networking.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

In all honesty, I have a lot of people believing in me and I just want to make them proud.
