Alright, Caitlin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

100% happy, I tell people all the time I have the best job in the world as an entrepreneur. I have to push myself in my weaknesses as well as exercise my strengths in order to grow.

As business owners, we have lots of thoughts and yes I sometimes think to myself, man it would be nice to shut the door and leave it….but then what?? I am stuck to a 9-5 and have to ask for time off to make it to all the other roles that I play in my life and community. Sure, there has to be a work/family balance as a business owner, but I would take the hustle it takes over working an unsatisfied job Monday-Friday, 9-5.

One insight and conclusion I say to myself if I am daydreaming about a regular job because business is busy and it takes hard work is, “This is the life you created.”

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

I would say referrals as well as networking and exposure on social media. I have to tell you that with every seed I have planted to acquire new clients, whether networking event or meeting a new mom at the park, it always comes back.

I believe in House of Colour, live it, own it and am passionate about sharing it with others and letting it change their life!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I do not have one particular story, but I can tell you that I opened up and launched House of Colour-Park Circle during COVID where I just moved from a new state not knowing a single soul except my immediate family and a couple kind neighbors. I tried to talk myself out of it opening a business a few times, but do you know when you just have to listen to your gut to do something and take a risk??! This is what it was like for me.

The whole journey has been full of ups and downs and middle ground. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and when doors close, I leave them close and when opportunity and doors open, I entertain them to see if it is a good fit for the business and brand.
