Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Caitlin Cipriano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Caitlin, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Like most people I was not prepared for what 2020 was going to throw me. I was pregnant with my first baby and due to have him in March which is when the whole world went upside down. I had planned to go back to my stable job working as a High School Athletic Trainer but it became evident at the end of the school year that things were not going back to normal anytime soon and thought of sending my son to daycare in the midst of a global pandemic was something my husband and I were not willing to do.
I put in my letter of resignation and hoped that the part time work I had been doing at a wellness center with my nutrition degree would pan out into a full time roll and in the meantime would stay home with my son.
Fast forward to October of 2020 and things were still pretty crazy and things had not picked up with my part time roll and I was let go from the wellness center. I was pretty devastated to say the least and felt like I was losing a part of myself that was so passionate about helping others.
These losses in my professional career were truly the best thing that could have ever happened to me.
It propelled me to where I am today! I am now in my third year of owning my own business, Wholesome Huntress Nutrition, where I help moms and moms to be be create sustainability in there nutrition and wellness so they can flourish in motherhood!
Caitlin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Caitlin Cipriano and I am mom of soon to be two little ones! When I am not wearing my professional hat I love a good cup of coffee, gardening, and traveling with my family!
My career started in athletic medicine but I quickly fell in love with nutrition and a few years after graduating from college I decided to go back for my masters in nutrition and human performance!
One of my very first nutrition clients was a well known professional snowboarder and to say I felt like I had no clue what I was doing was an understatement.
Over the past five years I have really developed into an empathetic and supportive practitioner who is able to help moms see the big picture and create a roadmap for there health where they can show up for themselves and there families that they felt wasn’t possible before.
I pride myself in building relationships and problem solving for my clients so that they can improve their relationship with food, boost energy, balance hormones, and feel there best even amongst the chaos of being a parent! After-all, each momma deserves to nourish themselves so they can flourish in motherhood!
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Outside of being educated on current evidence based practice in my field one of the most important aspects that has been key to my success is building relationships with my clients and colleagues. How you manage clients, there expectations makes a huge difference in there outcomes. Taking an individual approach and understanding the clients needs, there mindset, and giving them an appropriate roadmap to there goals is key for success.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I have a really strong business partnership with Vibrant Mama Wellness. Meg and I had some mutual friends in college but we didn’t actually connect until much later and started having children. We both found there was a large gap in fitness and nutrition in the prenatal and postpartum space and teamed up to better offer moms the support they deserve to feel vibrant in motherhood.
