Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Caitlin Brunette. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Caitlin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
In the beginning, there were days when I felt growth was so far away, but ultimately, it came much sooner than I anticipated. Now, just a year after launching Bright Blonde Studio, I’ve brought on two new team members to help me expand services and scale our business. I think the absolute best thing you can do as a business owner is hire people who are far brighter & more talented than yourself… and that’s exactly what I plan to do. In doing so, I’ve found this renewed energy to focus on growing our business into something even bigger! It’s such an exciting time.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started Bright Blonde Studio with small business owners in mind. We especially love working with local & female owned lifestyle brands. My goal was to provide overarching digital marketing services & strategy in a realistic and manageable way for people who might have otherwise been handling these tasks on their own. Digital Marketing is a huge undertaking- it’s not just managing a single social media account anymore- so we want to show business owners the value in outsourcing these tasks, but also make it a one stop shop that won’t make their heads spin with huge retainers, & CRM’s, and hundreds of meetings or emails per month. We can help with tasks like social media management, digital advertising, website management and design, business branding and logos, creative projects, and more!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Obviously, because we focus on social media & digital marketing work, I wholeheartedly believe in the power of organic connections on social media platforms! I can’t tell you how valuable my online network has been in expanding our brand awareness and meeting potential new clients. But beyond that- word of mouth and referrals from our current clients have been invaluable. We are so grateful that our clients feel confident enough in our work & the value we can ad to share our name with their friends & neighbors.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My own social media presence is still growing & I’m more than okay with that. Take it from a social media professional- there is SO much more to effective social media strategy than the numbers. I tell clients from our very first meeting to stop focusing on their follower count. It’s the least important piece of the puzzle and organic growth WILL come with effective strategy and consistent content creation. My best piece of advice to those starting to build a presence on social media is to focus on your current audience. Interact with them first, search for new followers second. This mind shift can be incredibly powerful.
I also always remind my clients that its about consistency, not constancy. Find a balance that works for your business & your audience on social media. If social media work starts to feel overwhelming- it’s time to outsource. Remember, this industry has changed greatly and social media management is now a full time job. You should find the same value in hiring a business accountant that you find in hiring a social media manager.
