We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Caitelyn Canals a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Caitelyn, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Our mission behind every market, car meet, and promotional event is more than just expanding our business. We want to be able to highlight small businesses from multiple communities as much as possible. Our market family has individuals that are car enthusiasts, handmade crafters, designers, and creators of all types of products from different niches all over.

We believe local businesses run by friends and family have more of an impact in our community rather than big corporations that don’t take pride in serving the people. A lot of people understand it is a tons of hard work to run a business, and we wanted to take that step in providing events for small businesses to share and promote their products to the public.

We want people to attend our events and feel welcomed, safe and overall have a great experience! As the owner of this company I take pride in knowing that we take all the necessary precautions and steps into making each event safe for all attendees of all ages. We want to create an atmosphere of positivity and excitement while maintaining policies to keep everyone safe.

Our mission from the beginning has always been to promote and support our local vendors, artists, creators and businesses to the best of our ability. We believe there is room for everyone to grow and succeed.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

We are Spiritual Nerdz Events and Planning. We host markets, car meets, and promotional events for the community to attend. We started in the spring of 2023 and have been working hard to grow our market family ever since!

We host many events where vendors can have the opportunity to have a spot to display and sell their products from their shops. This provides a one-on-one interaction with customers for the business owners to meet their supporters. This also gives vendors the opportunity to have fun and enjoy themselves at the different venues we host, making their overall experience relaxing.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

During the whole process of laying out the foundation for Spiritual Nerdz, I had to really rewire my way of thinking. For the majority of my life, I have always thought in terms of the logical way of things and have always been prepared for when ideas don’t work out, never the other way around.
When creating Spiritual Nerdz, I knew I wanted to shift my mindset from “how is this going to work” to “when this works out, here’s our next step.” I had to internally focus on what success meant for me and understand that it’s possible. For both me and the local businesses that trust me to promote them and their brands, I knew I needed to make it happen!

I found motivation in seeing both my business and others around me grow. I not only had to shift my mindset, but I also had to learn networking skills and marketing techniques that help promote both my business and others that have worked with me.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

When we started back in the spring of 2023, we originally wanted to focus on doing farmer markets and pop-up markets. However, we have grown tremendously since then and have considered shifting to bigger things!

We are fortunate to have now been able to branch out to the big, bold city of Austin, Texas. We have had the amazing opportunity to host markets and plan some of our bigger projects out there. With that being said, we have started to host car meets! Because we have a strong passion for cars, we decided to pivot and do both types of events combined at designated locations!

This was something we struggled with when deciding to merge ideas because, although we enjoyed both separately, if we combined them, we would need to coordinate them more effectively. We eventually came to the conclusion of combining the two while creating a car crew to represent Spiritual Nerdz.
