Cait, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I began advocating for various causes in 2015 on social media. It seemed like a good way to connect with a significant amount of people and have my opinions heard. Before the advocating, I didn’t find use in social media. I was never on it. As time passed, I began to hone in on what type of content/art was performing best. I found that I was able to create a captivating photo/video to lure in an eye and then educate in the captions. I fell in love with content creation and telling stories through a phone screen, it’s become a deep passion. It took me several years to figure out how to remain true and genuine to my creativity while making a career out of it. The brand evolved beyond activism into brand deals and partnerships.
Cait, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In 2015 I was working in corporate healthcare. I loved what I was doing for a profession as a hearing specialist, but being in an office all day, 6 days a week wasn’t something I could continue on with. I had overwhelming thoughts and sensations regarding a big shift, move and the desire to travel the world. I moved to Colorado and jumped into a mental space of only doing/working on things that felt great. I was focused and passionate about pursuing work within the health and wellness arena, catering to both B2B and B2C. 8 years later we’ve got Cait Curley Media, a brand that focuses on education, advocacy and high quality content creation.
Services that I provide: User generated content (The bulk of my creation at the moment. Brands use this content for paid advertisement, whitelisting, websites, etc…), product shoots, creative direction, brand promotion, brand awareness, photography and videography.
Before Cait Curley Media became a full time job for me, I was a social media manager for various types of brands. With the diversity in the brand’s vibes and products, I was able to get a grand grasp on what types of content people want to see, and what makes content go viral. This wisdom has helped me with my aesthetic and brand.
I am proud of myself for sticking through the rough days as a “struggling artist” and not turning my back on my creative passions.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Inspiring others. When someone reaches out to me, to mention that my journey/words have made a positive impact on them, it gives me joy. My content creates emotions that push individuals to think outside of the box and feel and I find that so cool.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My presence began to grow around my advocacy for health and wellness. I built my audience by finding a niche, and being creative and consistent. If you’re just starting out on social media, play around until you find specific styles of content that bring in eyes/interest. Once you find what works, create more content like that. Consistency and good lighting are also important.
