We were lucky to catch up with Cairo Douglas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cairo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I am extremely happy that God continues to provide for me while being able to do things that I love and fulfill me with my time.
It’s a level of freedom that most people don’t get to experience. I love it for me, especially with 2 small children.
I’ve actually worked several regular jobs in the past & I always knew it just wasn’t for me.
I learned many things from working said positions. It’s humbling, and I’ve acquired great skills & experiences from being in those positions, but when it was time to step out on my own God made it extremely clear to me.
So, I cannot actually think of a specific time, but a few when I’d have stressful thoughts about finances of course.
Not being financially secure all the time is difficult, especially with children!
But when you have a purpose to fulfill or a dream that you’re passionate about you have to continue doing the work.
It makes you want to give it all up at times and just go work a 9-5 to have that secure income coming in.
So that is when you have to truly walk in your faith and not by sight, because all of God’s promises will and have come to pass..

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Cairo Douglas. 33 years young. Mother of 2 beautiful children.
I began my journey with fitness as a child. I was a super athlete. I ran track, cross country and played basketball all throughout elementary, middle school, high school and even gained a full ride scholarship to run in college.
After attending college for 1 year God quickly revealed it wasn’t a fit for me.
Fast forward to 2016 while being a SAHM and wife God gave me the vision for Trouble Fitness.
I began out of my kitchen/living room in a 500-600 sq ft apartment doing FaceTime fitness sessions.
It’s worked out so great for me because I am able to work from anywhere as well as my clients, so essentially life doesn’t have to be on pause.
Don’t get it twisted though, I’ve struggled and still do at times like anyone else.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my authenticity and ability to empathize with many from my own experiences.
My mentality is different from most. I’m not doing things in order to be seen, go viral, get famous.
I am doing things to make the Lord proud and to bring people closer to God through spreading love and light! I truly love uplifting others & spreading positive energy!
Once you keep your focus on the Lord and change your mental everything else falls into alignment!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
As I said before the most rewarding part of what I do is uplifting other human beings! Nothing beats spreading positive energy. When you see and feel a shift in people’s energy and perspective it’s just priceless!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I actually believe now is a time where my career is pivoting. I am truly walking by faith and allowing God to guide my steps because I am unsure what’s in store for the future of Trouble Fitness and myself. I am also extremely excited for it!
