We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cadynse Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cadynse, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
In 2010 I hired a band for a fashion show fundraiser I was hosting in St. Helen’s OR. After hearing this band I was impressed & wondered more about their journey & why they seemed stuck. I’d never dealt with the music industry in any professional level but business I have always been good at. They asked if I could help them, I agreed walking into it blindly. This small risk taught me so many lessons about bands, rehersals, recording studios, bookings, etc. I loved every second and was honored to be able to watch them blossom. As time went on we mutually decided to part ways but my internal music bug was bitten. I’ve loved music since the 3rd grade!
Since leaving Oregon & coming to Texas I’ve recorded my own songs, preformed live, book bands for my own shows Chixx Mixx & Decades of Rock, develop & manage up & coming artists while helping them structure their talents & gifts as a legal business.
1 blind risk opened up doors later in life where without that experience I may of shed away from the opportunities.
Cadynse, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an artist manager & image developer. I’ve got a team I work with who also helps my talent with PR, tours, contracts, branding, etc. We work to structure artists to be legally in business, protected. We strive to alleviate the stress of building their brand, negotiations, bookings, exposure, etc so they can just focus on crafting their talent. So much talent around us, not enough legal protection or education in business to protect their intellectual property. We’re here to help! Our connections are international & our strategies work!
Management came naturally being a business owner since 18. I have a love, passion & respect for the entertainment industry. It’s always creative and changing which keeps me stimulated & excited to get up and work. Kinda like opening a gift everyday and having no clue what’s inside but excited to find out. I’ve seen the need for strong and ethical women in this industry for a while as our outlooks and tendencies vary from men. So why not me?
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Oh this is great. I’ve had to unlearn & accept the fact that I can see talent, see potential, see the whole package in someone else. But if they can’t see it in themselves I cannot change their mind. I cannot make people see the BIG PICTURE. I have to give them tools and set them on their way to expand their thinking and come back when ready.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
My all time favorite book that changed my life forever and is what I send small thinkers away with is THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG! Once you learn to control your mind & belief system your entire world will shift. Also stop wasting precious time on TV, Video Games, Scrolling social media endlessly, etc. Then whining that you have no time. 24 hours is given to each of us everyday yoy make the choice on what to do with it, noone else.
