Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cadrea Scarbrough . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cadrea , appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
My make up business started in 2016. I was at a standstill in life at the time, so one day I decided to post my work on Facebook. I got a lot of feedback. That’s the day I decided to do make up, I started in my hometown Eutaw, AL. They supported me and I’m so thankful for my friends and my clients, they helped me get to where I am today. I feel like if I would have started sooner, I would be in a different place right now. I would’ve had me a contract by now, traveling doing makeup, collaborating with beauty companies and everything. If I only had the same mindset I have today, I would be so much further than I am today. When I finally decided to step out on faith, so many doors started opening for me. My life did a whole 360, I felt better and wanted more in life. I feel like I am walking in my purpose, and it feels great to be doing something that I enjoy doing. I most definitely wish I could have started sooner, but I do believe that I am in the right place at the right time. I am trusting God’s timing. I will keep going no matter what. My business will prosper soon.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those of you who may not know me, I am a makeup artist, from a small town called Eutaw Al. I got into the beauty industry by putting myself out there, I prayed for guidance, and watched upcoming makeup artists and entrepreneurs. Seeing them succeed and prosper really motivated me. I always been a girly girl that’s into hair, makeup, and fashion. This is me and this is who I am. I specialize in soft glam makeup. I give my clients a natural enhancement and they love it. I am most proud of that I started going after what I really want. If I can do it you can do it too! I invested in a makeup class to perfect my craft and gain more knowledge. I pushed myself on days, I wasn’t feeling my best. It was a time I thought I wasn’t good enough, but I kept going!
For my potential clients, followers and fans,
I want you all to know that I really appreciate your time and patience with me. My makeup business is growing daily, and I promise to provide the best service I can to you all. I thank you all so much for walking along with me on this journey, very much appreciated. Thank you all for seeing the greatness in me. You all pushed me to do better and for that I am so grateful. I have so much in store, stay tuned!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Losing my daughter last year in 2021, really was a challenge for me. The week I dropped my lip gloss line, I got a phone call about my daughter. I lost focus, I just started working 9-5s. I stopped promoting and everything. I realized like wow it’s been a year. I told myself this is not my life, to repeat the cycle of work and home everyday. To not focus on my own business, really bothered me. I was not happy about that. My family and I deserve more, my daughter would want me to keep going. I finally realize today is the day that I must keep going. I am aiming for everything I dreamed of. I thank God for strength and guidance, with God by my side all things are possible.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by being engaged with my followers and active online. Facebook is where I started, I also used to post pictures, and my followers would love it. I used to be surprised on how many people engaged, with my post rather it’s a picture or motivational quotes. You cannot be afraid to be open with your followers. I’m supportive as well. You have to support others rather it’s liking, commenting, or sharing a picture they post. It’s not easy being active and having to deal with your everyday life, but it will all be worth at the end, just be yourself and you’ll gain the right followers that is for you.
