We recently connected with C Wills and have shared our conversation below.
C, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew when I wanted to pursue this fully is when I had my first placement with one of my favorite artist named Yonas Michael from this group called “ U-N-I ”. It was his first Solo album called Black Swan Theory. I was just finishing up my senior year in High School. From there it just trickled and kept going…next thing you know it a few years later I’m performing with my homies from Odd Future at Camp Flog Gnaw.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hey so I’m C Wills, I started producing during the ‘Jerk’ era. My homies needed a producer so me & my cousin Don started making beats together on “Audacity” & “ FL Studio” .the homie who needed us as producers ended up passing away my Junior year in high school, which made me take a slight break from making music. About a year later in my senior year I ended up befriending some of my favorite artist named “ Thurzday” & “Y-O (now known as Yonas Michael) ” from a group called U-N-I. From that moment sitting in the studio with Them and their producer Ro Blvd it revived my spirit to make music again. And then I created a production group called “The Triiiads” with my bro Orlando “ OThaTruth” & my cousin Donovan (Don DiestrO) & eventually we made the cut on Yonas’ solo album called “ Black Swan Theory”. From there I linked up with my homie Left Brain & A few others from a group called Odd Future and began to really evolve my style as a producer. Once we performed for the first time as a unit called “Mind Gone” at Camp Flog Gnaw it opened my eyes to even more possibilities. I’ve had many stumbles and mistakes happen along the way. I have lost many friends & family members during this journey but it helped shape me into who the man & artist that I am currently. As a Producer & a DJ, I try to curate immersive experiences, blending genres to create a distinctive sonic journey for the people around. I want to take them somewhere they’ve never been sonically. I want to expand their eyes and ears as not only an Artist/composer but also as a Consumer. Because we all listen to music at the end of the day regardless of what profession we may have. My proud moments come from overcoming challenges like finances to being stuck in Australia during the pandemic but, i stayed creative by sneaking into our studio and cooked up for like 12-18 hours while we were on Martial Law out there. Shoutout my Australian family my RMF & AUD$ family. Without them I wouldn’t have survived. The homie’s Junz & Matt really goated. We was thugging it out during that time. I won’t provide much details on that though ha. To be honest what I’m most proud of is not giving up on myself and I’m proud of myself through and through. Without God & the trust in my own process I wouldn’t have gotten this far…and the cold part is I’m not even at my pinnacle yet! I have so much more to achieve and this year is going to be an amazing one..I know it and feel it in my soul. I aim to connect with fans through providing good energy, being a genuine person, & pushing boundaries in the realm of music & frequencies.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’m on a mission to just provide good energy for people’s souls. To make them feel good and smile . To remind them that music heals, & that it’s cool to embrace the unknown. That’s how I spent 3 years in Australia & a few months in South Africa. it changed my life forever in a positive way.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
To be honest, patience & trusting my own process in full. As crazy as it sounds, it’s the truth. I had a lot of people derail me and my homies Most of the time we as humans rush from point A to point D, & we never really pay attention to the journey and things in between those stops…We may miss out on beautiful opportunities or things in life if we rush.
