We recently connected with C. Henny and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, C. thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I started in 2018 with no knowledge at all about music. I learned really by watching my bro Ali make beats in the dorm & I would watch Guap rap at the crib. I got tired of paying studios for studio time so ended up watching Ali engineer & teaching myself how to engineer. I don’t feel like I could have done anything to speed up the process because I’m so precise with everything I do that it has to be A1 before it goes out so I take my time with it and it paid off. I’m now a part of 808 Mafia & I also have my own label/company G.O.O.N. Records LLC. I think the most essential skill for anyone in the game is to always be open to new ideas & never stop learning. I didn’t really have any obstacles because I feel like the only obstacle stopping you from learning more is yourself. It’s so much information & money out here & some people won’t tell you so you have to go get it yourself but it’s possible.
C., before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner of G.O.O.N. Records LLC and I work under 808 Mafia/Freegame. I really started “rapping” because I didn’t like the music I was hearing & I felt like I could better. I don’t like to call myself a rapper though because I can switch the vibe whenever & however. Most people never know what to expect next from me but it always tops what I’ve previously done. My goal in music is to always push the envelope. I’m proud that I have been able to accomplish so much within such a short amount of time. I love my fans because I wouldn’t be here today with out them. Even if I had 0 listeners I would still be doing music because I love it that much. My company stands for Growing Out Of Nothing and I really stand on that. I started this from scratch. I had nothing but a computer I had got before I started college and was able to work with major artist & continue setting the wave & show people that want to do this that it is possible if you really want it.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
waste of money & a scam
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I feel like I’m still building it but I don’t really care about social media really at all. My advice though is to be active on there. Post, post, post but really study your engagement & what your fans really tap into.
