We recently connected with C.Bennett and have shared our conversation below.
Hi C.Bennett, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I feel incredibly grateful for the many opportunities I’ve had to be a part of meaningful art adventures throughout my life. One experience that truly stands out to me was being invited by “the Agency,” a top-notch real estate firm in downtown Kirkland, to participate in a one-night fundraiser aimed at raising money for low-income housing. It was an honor to be personally invited by Jen Cameron, the owner and operator, and together we were able to raise over $5,000 and touch the hearts of so many people. In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to show others that even the smallest efforts can make a big difference and change someone’s life for the better.
This month, I am thrilled to announce the opening of my exhibition at the Northwest African American Museum in Seattle, titled “Positive Frequencies.” Through showcasing the amazing power of music, I hope to inspire others to embrace its healing properties and live their best lives. With over 30 paintings on display, visitors can sense the impact that past and present musicians have had on the world with their music and lyrics. My hope is that this exhibition will help others realize the therapy that comes along with music and inspire them to embrace its ability to positively shape their lives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello, my name is Cory Bennett, but you can call me C. Bennett. I am passionate about inspiring those around me with my smile and positivity. I believe that art can bring amazing experiences to people’s lives and uplift them in incredible ways. One of my favorite things to do is collaborate with others and invite them to partake in my process of painting. It’s a beautiful sight to see people light up with the opportunity to create art.
I am located in Poulsbo, WA, where I have a large mural next to the public library. The mural is about 150ft long and 18ft tall. I invited the community to come out and help create textures like handprints and abstract paint strokes. Over 120 people of all ages joined, and it was truly a gift to bring the community together, bringing beauty to our parks and uplifting each other’s souls.
As an artist, my goal is to motivate the youth to think outside the box and remind adults that art is a unique therapy that can enrich their lives. I hope that over my career, I can inspire many people to embrace the healing power of art and show them the beauty that can come from it.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Art is a powerful tool that has the ability to inspire and motivate people in ways that are immeasurable. It has the power to change the way people perceive the world around them. In my personal experience, surrounding myself with art that makes me feel happy and alive is a way to uplift my spirit and ground my way of thinking. I make it a point to look at art every morning to start my day on a positive note.
I believe that it is easy to take art for granted, especially when it comes to supporting local artists. However, a community that understands the power of art will support local artists without hesitation. Supporting local art events, such as First Fridays, museums, and farmers markets, is a great way to show your support. Additionally, buying local art is a great way to invest in your community while also supporting local artists.
As an artist who has worked with children, I know firsthand the impact that art can have on young people. Providing children with opportunities to experiment with paint and work on collaborative projects can be a truly rewarding experience. It is important to encourage young people to express themselves through art in a positive way. By doing so, we can help them to reach their full potential and avoid falling into despair.
In conclusion, it is important to recognize the power of art and to support local artists and community art events. By doing so, we can create a more vibrant and connected community while also enriching our own lives.

Working with young people is truly the most rewarding part of my artistic career. Witnessing the sheer joy and excitement that children exude when they’re given the opportunity to experiment with paint and work on a collaborative piece is truly heartwarming. Last summer, I was able to create a magnificent public mural in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, and we invited around 20 local children to participate in the project. We encouraged them to add their own personal touches and textures to the mural, and they were absolutely thrilled to be a part of it all. The kids loved getting their hands and feet dirty and were especially excited about using spray paint. We even had a group of high school students join us, and they immediately gravitated towards the spray cans.
There was one girl in particular who stood out to me. She was having the time of her life painting her name on the wall, and she turned to me and asked who had given me permission to paint there. I explained that I was commissioned by the city and was being paid $15,000 for the project. Her eyes widened, and she exclaimed, “You can get paid to paint walls?” It turns out that she had been expelled from school for vandalizing the walls with spray paint. This experience really hit home for me and made me realize that young people are always searching for ways to express themselves. It’s our responsibility as leaders to provide them with the tools and structure they need to do so in a positive way. If we don’t, they may fall into despair instead of reaching their full potential.
