One of our favorite client journeys began at the La Jolla Open Air Market. A plant enthusiast struggling to keep her houseplants healthy was hesitant to add more. We started with a repotting session, addressed her existing collection, optimized plant placement, and provided a personalized care guide. As her plants began to thrive, so did her confidence. She booked a design consultation, added new greenery to her space, and continued learning. Eventually, when her schedule became too busy, she entrusted us with full plant maintenance. It’s a great example of how our services evolve to support clients through every stage of their plant journey.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Folha Oasis was born from the intersection of my two passions—interior design and plants—and one core desire: to share the joy that plants bring into our lives. With a background in design and years of hands-on experience (and experimentation) with indoor plants, I recognized a major gap in the industry. Many people wanted to enjoy the beauty of houseplants but didn’t have the knowledge, time, or confidence to care for them. That’s where we come in.
At Folha Oasis, we offer a full range of customized interiorscaping services to meet each client’s unique needs. Whether someone already has a collection of struggling houseplants or is starting from scratch, we’re here to help.
Repot & Plant Care Guide: For clients who already have plants but need support, we refresh and repot their collection and provide a personalized care guide to set them up for long-term success.
Design & Installation: We create customized plant designs based on lighting, watering needs, and aesthetics, making sure each plant will thrive in its space. Clients get to choose their favorites from our curated proposals, and we provide a care guide if they’ll be maintaining the plants themselves.
Plant Care & Maintenance: We offer weekly and bi-weekly maintenance services, including watering, pruning, cleaning, and health monitoring—ensuring our clients’ plants always look stunning and vibrant.

Have you ever had to pivot?
When I first started Folha Oasis, my mission was to change the culture around plant ownership—to take the fear out of plant care and help people succeed with indoor plants, whether they needed guidance or full-service support. I wanted to offer not just beautiful, healthy plants, but also the knowledge and tools to care for them confidently.
About two years in, I realized my original business model wasn’t sustainable. Every plant we sell is hand-selected, repotted if needed, treated, and cleaned leaf by leaf—we put an incredible amount of care into our products to ensure clients have a real chance at success. But this level of detail is time-intensive and doesn’t scale easily. I was doing three markets a week, which left little room to grow the business or explore the service side I was passionate about.
So I made a tough but necessary pivot. I stepped away from two of the three markets and focused on one—betting on the idea that our work would speak for itself and open the door to deeper client relationships. That shift allowed me the time and energy to develop our services. It was a leap, but one that ultimately helped the business grow in a more sustainable and impactful way.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I believe helped Folha Oasis build a strong reputation in our market is the combination of years of expertise in both interior design and indoor plant care. Our clients know they’re getting more than just a service—they’re getting thoughtful, highly customized solutions tailored to their space and lifestyle.
