We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bungalow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bungalow , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
For me, taking a risk is going outside of yourself and creating something that is beautiful in its own way. You never know where the outcome of that risk will take you so just trust your skills and the process.
Bungalow , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Bungalow, I am from Toledo, Ohio and I am a music artist/musician that’s part of a collective called the “9inner League.” I actually started off dabbling in music as a kid, singing and trying to come up with my own songs and not realizing how that would turn into me doing music. I initially wrote songs as a hobby and helped a bunch of friends that were doing music at the time write their songs. It was fun doing that and my start as an artist came when my friends challenged me to come up with a song for myself and after I did that I was told “You know you can’t stop now” and here we are now. I’m actually glad that happened because it allows me to put myself in a world that I can create that others can visualize when they hear the music I create. I’m often inspired by different things, people, and places that I travel to. Those components in my opinion make my music different from every other artist out there because it gives people a good feeling and they feel good about themselves when they hear it.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding thing about being an artist is seeing your art inspire other people that you didn’t think it would reach out to especially in different countries. I feel good when I hear people at my shows singing along word for word, when people recognize me from my music videos and when I hear my music playing in public and I’m not playing it.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Actually there is, that is to be the best at what I do!!! Of course I want the money and shows to keep reflecting as does every artist but ultimately for me the goal is to be the best that I can be and to bring as many different versions of myself in the music as I can.
