Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bula Barua. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bula, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I was an artist at the age of 2 years old! I gravitated towards performing and visual arts.
Bula, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an award-winning, internationally acclaimed Fine Artist and a published author of short stories and poetry. I have won several prestigious global and national awards for my ability to capture and communicate emotion and aesthetics through art. My works are included in many private and public collections around the world.
I started creating art as a small child. Art class in Elementary School was always my favorite. I also sang, danced, acted in theater and composed music. I was born an artist and couldn’t imagine doing anything else! I went on to Purdue University, where I studied Health Kinesiology and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. After graduation, I was recruited to work for an IT company and moved into User Experience (the art of making technology more aesthetic and user friendly for customers). However, I found that I wasn’t fulfilled working in a corporate 9 to 5. I dreamed of being a full time artist and creating beauty for a living. In 2011, I began creating fine art professionally and showing in prestigious galleries in Pasadena, Laguna Beach, and New York City. My career took off after that.
I have created her own style of fine art, called Luxury Fine Art – Blown Glass on Canvas. There is an illustrious and ethereal energy bursting from my colorful paintings. Layers of artist blown glass, precious gems, crushed minerals, 24-karat gold, Swarovski crystals, raw floral pigments and resin create an undeniable 3 dimensional effect. Each of my paintings is stunning and changes with the angles and placement of the viewer.
As a passionate fine artist and gallery owner, thrilled to share my unique process with you all. I weave together luminescent pigments, 24-karat gold or silver, and the delicate art of glass blowing. Each piece begins as a blank canvas, and through a meticulous process, it transforms into a symphony of color and texture. I start by infusing the canvas with luminescent pigments, adding a touch of opulence with precious metals. Then, the magic happens as I breathe life into colorful glass figures, only to delicately shatter them. The shattered fragments find their home on the canvas, bound together with resin, creating a breathtaking mosaic of emotions and stories.
My artworks have expanded far beyond the canvas. My fine artwork was featured on Converse shoes in Italy. In addition, I was commissioned to travel to Hanzhou, China to personally design and curate the famed 5-star beauty spa, Adlina. The spa featured 14 of my artworks, as well as my personal interior art design and touch. Today, my art is highly sought after by art collectors all over the world, and I have the luxury of being selective about commissions I choose to accept.
I am most proud of the fact that I have overcome so many barriers and obstacles in this artistic journey, but have never wavered in my purpose. I am very persistent and I have a message I want to share with the world. I wake up every day with that inspiration in my heart.

When you invest in one of my artworks, you are investing in a timeless moment of beauty that will grow exponentially with my career. My artworks have more than 20X’d in value in the past 15 years, and will continue to do so.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Earlier in my career, I was told to select one medium and style and stick to that, because that would help to establish and brand me as an Artist. I did that for a few years, sticking to oil paintings only. However, the world is always changing and moving forward. I believe artists are the same and innovation is a good thing! We are moved by inspiration and are not static. Life is motion, just as art is. So, I had to unlearn this and allow myself the freedom to innovate and create and play. This is how Blown Glass on Canvas was born.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that I am living my dream and purpose. I am being true to myself and my integrity. I am doing what I want to do and creating art that brings others joy. I love my job and my life. I wake up happy and excited every day.
