We recently connected with Buchi Precious and have shared our conversation below.
Buchi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was young, growing up was interesting cause helping my mom was all I did after school, she being a fashion designer (tailor), sewing for people and seeing them happy, made me understand what it means to have a passion ,and my kind of person,I’ve Always loved to help people (humanitarian service),so I thought being a doctor would be better but as i grew older, watching art programs on TV, coupled with my life experiences good and bad moments made me know instantly that I’ll be an artist.
I don’t need to be a doctor to save life, art saved me so art can save others like me.

Buchi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is okeke buchi precious,
A graduate of art (painting), igbo by tribe from Ebonyi state, born and raised in Edo State,a graduate of art (painting),Auchi polytechnic Auchi Edo State, Nigeria.
I am artist,an Emotive expressionist,
Using exaggerated eyes , figures and colours to express my self.
My work is about reflection, connection, healing, mental health, moods, culture, heritage, roots, moment, memories and life.
I got fully into art when I left home(Edo State) to Lagos 2023,then I became I full time artist.
I’ve always loved helping and giving service, alot is going on in our society coupled with my life experiences, became a drive and I use art to solve the problem in my own way, using art as therapy, medicine,a place of escape, beauty, hope, connection and love.
Being an artist or creative is what I’m most proud of,cause I’m able to create and express, using my expression to pass message and help the society,
I create cause I love and have a passion for it.
I want to use my work,to break boarders,to help both mentally, psychological, socially even spiritual,to help awaken weak minds,to reconnect all those broken,to find lost souls ,to help reimagined BEAUTY in the ugliness of the world and go let the world know that they are not alone ,love still exist.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to heal,to mend ,to uplift,to renew,to give hope,
To give therapy to who needs it,
Using my work give awareness to the souls who are depressed, does who lost their dreams, does who feel left behind, those who can speak up or lost their voices, those who left home and couldn’t come back, those with health issues and feel life is bad, those with suicidal thoughts and
Those with broken home.
This are my goal to use my work to draw them close,
My mission is to let them know Love still exist.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We are in modern age, where social media helps and also destroy, depends on how well you use it.
Before and After I came to lagos, social media was my market,my office my second home,
Each work I did,I post , relentless of the comments or likes.
I just kept posting, I just kept producing works,my goal was simple,
(let them see ,let them heal let them love)
No matter the location social media helped to push the work further,
As relentless as I did,I built my audience, from 1 it grew to to thousands and still growing,
The beauty is in authenticity, all I did was post my work with a believe that the Right people with come,
My advice is:
Be authentic,be different,
Don’t copy another,
If one must look at others, one should learn from them ,pick the needful and create yours.
Post what your art and avoid posting any distractions,
Be patient at it,it takes time to find your audience.
Let the passion carry you.
