We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bryon Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bryon below.
Alright, Bryon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew when I got my first few action figures as a kid. I wouldn’t just play with toys in the generic manner but I would actually create full on movies with them. I acted as if my eye was the camera and I would let my imagination run wild. That would eventually bleed into me teaching myself how to draw for countless hours and from those early prepubescent years I knew all I wanted to was create.
What solidified my full catapult into this journey was watching Tyler, The Creator bring out his idols on stage for Camp Flog Gnaw. Seeing the quote en quote weird kid achieve something like that to being where he is now with his own Louis Vuitton collection keeps me going day in and day out.
Bryon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the ad industry by chance. My best friend Jaydin was doing an internship for BLAC and he told me I should apply for the next lineup in 2022. I went for it and I got in via a submission video I worked tirelessly on.
I mainly provide the services of copywriting, music production, conceptualizing & videography.
What I can provide for my client is the ability to tell a story while making people want to invest in their product. I’m part of a new generation that can tell when something is trying too hard to be “hip” or relevant.
I’m honestly the most proud of the work I do with my friends. From the music to the videos. It’s nothing better than being synchronized flow states and just firing off left and right. I’m frankly proud of the resilience I’ve developed from doors being shut because I didn’t have the normalized experience on paper to pursue the paths I wanted but I knew that just because I didn’t go to school for these things doesn’t mean I’m ill-equipped. My clients can count on me to create some cool shit, and that’s as blunt as I can get.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Honestly I kind of hate it. I don’t like how cheap art is just made for the purpose of reselling in this new get rich quick scheme. Anything involving crypto, keep it AWAY from me. Maybe I’m shooting myself in the foot but my experience with being scammed and friends constantly telling me to invest has turned me away from it. I don’t care for these things and I don’t create to get rich quick.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The one vision I have in mind being able to live comfortably off the strength of my talents. The ultimate dream is being a director. A black Spielberg. Ahh! I want to make a giant monster movie, a superhero movie, all that just sounds so ill to me. All these other things are side quests beefing up my character for the main missions.
