Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bryesiah Baham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Bryesiah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I have made a full time living from my work as an employee, instructor, & an employer. I began sewing for the first time in high school on home sewing machines. I progressed learning industrial machines in college. Then, finally, after a long break from college began my own brand and that branched into me getting clients for custom designs and clothing, which lead me into seamstress and tailoring. Somehow I got recruited to sew the first commercial spacesuits ever created, which is currently where my career has me placed right now. Some major steps and milestones I’ve learned that I wish I knew now, would be you’ve always had everything you needed as long as you have a true creative mindset. Creativity is sometimes the only tool you need, mechanics and technology are only enhancements.

Bryesiah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began sewing heavily during Covid and began taking my craft serious. I had enough time on my hands to hand sew most of my garments before I was able to purchase a new machine. I spent most of my days doing rideshare delivery at the time after we had a job lay off. I did a lot of research because I was determined to be successful at my passion for sewing & design.
I currently provide alternations, custome designs, sewing classes, and consultations. For my clients I’m flexible as far as travel and fabric search/purchase goes I don’t mind doing it all for them.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve accomplished most of all the goals I originally set for my career. From wardrobe consulting, to on production set wardrobe styling, to designing garments from scratch, to magazines, to celebrity clients, to having consistent clientele.. I’ve done it all! I have two things left to do that take time but I’m in the middle of making them happen.
My brand is for eccentric, elegant, but risky women & men. I expect most of my clients for my brand to be in the spotlight and very trendsetting.
You can find my brand on Instagram at Untouraj & my seamstress tailoring services will be on The Untouraj.com soon!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
When I was young, my great grandma left me money for once I made it to high school to do anything I desired with. She had hope that’d I’d use it for my greater good. I was fortunate enough to have someone’s hard work effect my life even when they were no longer here and my motivation is repeating that for the next generations to come in my family but for the long hall. I want them to having passive income.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
It’s so funny, I always use this method even in my everyday life. So, I have this method where I buy whatever I need but the low budget version of it id use it for a while then when I’ve made a little more money by using that item or resource, I’ll go and sell the low budget item for a more upgraded version of it and I Keep doing that cycle until I have the high end one that I actually need. And then I start the process over again. I’ve used that for cars, sewing machines, sergers, designer items, electronics, etc!
