We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bryce Owens a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryce, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risk I have taken is becoming a music artist. Starting out, I did not have a lot of support and people did not see my vision. I had to learn that, at the end of the day, I am my number one supporter and that made me push more to become who I am today. I’d rather do something I love with no support versus doing something I don’t like with support. I stayed consistent with my craft and now I am doing well for myself as an artist. I have supporters that genuinely support me and I am forever grateful for them. I love them with all my heart. Shout out to them !
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artist name is Bo3. I got into music at a young age. I was in band from middle school to high school. I played trumpet for the school marching and concert band. I can read and write music as well. I started writing music seriously once I got into college. Before college, I would just write down how I felt. One day, I allowed one of my closest friends to read my notes and she suggested that I become an artist. She helped me realize that, what I was writing was good music and that I had potential. Shout out to Evie Curtis for that! What sets me apart from other’s is me being myself. I see the beauty in everything and that’s what drives my creativity. I feel like there is no such thing as a “bad” song. Music is to create emotion, rather a person loves or hates a song, the job has been done because emotion has been felt. I am most proud of my progress, I have came a long way from when I first started making music until now. I would like to thank 1600Tripp$, Ryan Cleaver, and EsMod, Mohamed Abdo, for believing in me and helping me along the way. I see and hear my improvements. I want to continue to grow as an artist and be heard all over the world.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best way to support an artist is to share their art. Repost their music, events, merch, etc. It’s free and it does not cost a thing to click share.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, the goal that is driving my creative journey is being heard all over the world. I make music for people to relate too, rather thats happy music, sad music, energetic music, etc. I want my audience not feel weird for how they are feeling and know that they are not alone. Creating a haven where it is okay to be yourself and feel whatever you’re feeling.
