We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bryce Lennon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bryce below.
Bryce, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When UnRegisteredStyle® started back in 2013, I was looking to hire a local photographer. There was a lot of fashion related content to cover on the website, and I wanted an experienced shooter to bring my vision to life. Although there was a lot of talent in the area, most of the photographers were either outside of my price range or they didn’t understand my vision. So, I went out on a limb, purchased a camera, and started shooting the content myself. With very limited to no professional photography experience, everything was trial and error. Like the old saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” Nine years later, I have evolved into a professional photographer. I even work on projects outside of my fashion content as well. With all that being said, picking up the camera was the best risk I’ve ever taken!

Bryce, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is Bryce Lennon, and I’m a fashion and lifestyle blogger, influencer, and photographer. I own two fashion related websties, UnRegisteredStyle.com and BryceLennon.com.
My love for blogging came at a time when academia ruled my existence. In graduate school, most of my free time was spent between social media and the library. Platforms like Facebook and Twitter were my main expressive outlets, and I utilized both platforms to showcase my weekly fashion inspiration and personal style. My personal style became more recognized over time. For instance, some of my women followers would screenshot my photos, and send to their boyfriends as style inspiration. In short, they wanted their boyfriends to dress like me.
Once I completed my studies in graduate school, I moved back home and became more successful in my professional role. The sacrifice? Most of my personal interests took a back burner. After a couple years of working, I decided to reevaluate my priorities, and focus more on fashion and personal style. Then, it hit me, “Bryce, you should create a fashion blog!” History was made after that!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Mastering the art of accepting rejection builds the most resilience. When you’re entering these creative spaces, everyone isn’t going to like or appreciate your work. You may have all these grand ideas for yourself that no one believes in, and it’s up to stay focused. Don’t allow one, two, or even ten rejections keep you down. The right one will come along.
For example, I can’t count the number of times I’ve been turned down by other models or creatives to collaborate on fashion related projects. I don’t take anything personal though. These people have every right to say no!
In time, the right person usually comes along, understands my vision, and we create beautiful work together. It’s always worth it in the end.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
The transfer of knowledge is a very powerful resource in itself, especially within your own community. That being said, If I could do it over again, I would have shadowed a local photographer earlier in my career. Yes, I had photographer friends, but I thought it would be more beneficial to figure out everything on my own. In hindsight, a mentor would help strengthen my skillset even more.
