We were lucky to catch up with Bryant August recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bryant, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was 13 years old, my uncle constructed a guitar for me. He was an incredible musician and also an electrician. He taught me one song (Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit”). I was hooked on music from that moment.
I always looked up to my uncle and his musical talents with guitar playing, writing, composing, and recording music. My uncle passed on into the afterlife a few months ago; but will always hold a special place in my heart. All of our hearts.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Bryant, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started in a high school band that wrote original music. I worked in the live cover music scene most of my life from then. I started original music releases and the serious business branded music in 2017. My wheelhouse has always been rock, but I found an segway into heavy/melodic hard rock and metal.
The most active original music with important powerful musical messages is the current music project called Atrium.
We are proud of the singles we have released so far, and the team we built that stand behind them. We are especially proud of the international award winning music videos that are released.
As a national rock band we are currently in the top 50 of the secondary market rock chart on radio and can be found @ smrchart.com
We give thanks to be working with producer Johnny K on the new Atrium music releases. Johnny produced, engineered, and mixed bands like Disturbed, Staind, 3 Doors Down, Sevendust, nonpoint, Pop Evil, Finger Eleven, Adelitas Way, and more….
We give thanks to be working with Director Thomas Crane from Kill Devil Films. We did several projects together, and it always turns out amazing.
We give thanks to be working with Chad Szeliga on drums and Jesse Wayne Hatch on guitars. Chad played drums for band called Breaking Benjamin, Black Label Society, Black Star Riders, and many more. Jesse played guitar for a band called Gone For Days, Stars of Seattle, and many more.
We recently did a 3 day run supporting our friends from the band “Cold” on Florida dates during their tour in September 2023. They can be found @ ColdArmy.com
We have un-announced concert opportunities and new music coming soon.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is when your audience resonates completely with the music and the message of that music, along with the feelings it generates. The universal opportunity of music is listening to a song; then relate it to your own feelings. Any song could mean something different to each listener and their personality. Collaboration with a producer and song writer partners is also rewarding through the process.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal and mission is to release the best musical compositions that we can. We want to provide the best visual to support the message as well.
The mission that drives our creative journey is the reward of having the opportunity and privilege to bring real world issues into musical content. Our live performances drives the follow up of that release or releases; along with delivering the energy that comes with that performance.
We really look forward to meeting our concert event attendees at our events. It drives the goals of more face time opportunity with our Atrium Warriors Family.
