We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bryan Torres. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bryan below.
Bryan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
I have an acting agency that I signed with back in 2021 a year and a half into acting. It was a very difficult process and some thing that was very challenging to secure. Acting is a very competitive field and the entertainment industry in a whole is very hard to get into.
When I first began my acting journey, it was very hard to get recognized and to get agents and managers interested in me. It was a process that took over a year to finally see results and get what I wanted, which was to be signed to an agency. I was taking acting classes and showcasing to agents and managers through that class in order to get exposure and to have these agents, see me and my talent.
I think the reason why they decided to go and work with me is because they saw my potential and saw that I was someone who fit their agency and what they were looking for. And I decided to work with them because they have a good record Of working with some great actors and have given multiple opportunities to their clients which really caught my attention. And at the very start of the classes when I first met this agent, I knew that that’s who I wanted to work with in the future. And here I am, working with the same agency I wanted to work with.
Bryan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello my name is Bryan Torres and I began my acting journey back in 2020 and it took me a year and I have to finally get signed with an agent. It took a lot of failing and a lot of no’s at first in order to get to the final result which was being signed to an acting agency. I never fully realize how competitive and hard it is to get into this industry and the amount of discipline and patience that you need in order to succeed in this industry.
I feel like I have a very creative mind which does help with auditions and I also love writing and coming up with new scenes and ideas for acting. I’ve been consistent and disciplined enough Regardless of how hard and difficult it may be succeeding in this industry.
One of the things I am most proud of is getting signed with my agency because it is a good agency with good clients that they represent and I’ve done a couple of short films and background work which I’m very proud of and help me understand the industry more. I’ve also done a little bit of modeling which stemmed from acting and they enjoy doing both.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first began showcasing for these agents and managers, I was getting rejected and declined so many times to the point where I almost gave up. It was hard at first. I wasn’t getting the results I wanted which really discouraged me and made me feel like I just wasn’t good enough. It took me over a year of just showcasing and being rejected and getting so many no’s until I finally got signed to an agency. Although I kept getting rejected and declined, I didn’t give up although I really did want to. But I knew that if I kept going, and I kept consistent and disciplined enough to stay patient, that it would eventually pay off and surely it did. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it is one that has taught me, patience and resilience, and a journey that I will forever cherish. I am nowhere near where I want to be, but I know if I stay consistent and discipline that I will reach the goals that I set to myself.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding aspect of this industry is just seeing how well and put together your film came out. Whenever you’re filming something, whether it’s a short film feature film or just background working in general, you always want to feel proud of what you’ve done and feel like you’ve done the best that you can. Going back to watching your tapes or films and knowing that you did the best you can, and it came out to the best of its ability and very rewarding aspect in this industry. Even just getting positive feedback from whether it’s the Director, the producer or your fellow cast, it’s always a rewarding, feeling knowing that you’re doing good and making this story that you are building come to life.
Just knowing that you are creating and building a story based off these characters to make the story come to life is really rewarding in itself. Working with other great actors and creators really does bring everything to life and makes everything come full circle in the process of making a film. Knowing that you’re working on this film to help creates and build a story is a great feeling also feels very rewarding.
