Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bryan Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bryan, appreciate you joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I honestly do feel like my musical work has been misunderstood or mischaracterized. Throughout my childhood years, I’ve been laughed at and criticized over my dream of being a musician. Not upset about it. I was just a kid who liked being by himself, letting his imagination run wild, and I was destined to be a superstar in the future to all the kids and teachers at school, but as I was turning 11, I realized that I was not good at anything to be successful to be a famous person, until I discover a digital audio workstation called FL Studio and changed my perspective of life forever. From 2014 till now, I’ve done nothing to improve myself in making the best quality music out there, especially in making dance music, and the process has been long, but I had the patience and the dedication to keep on going and be the person that I am today, and I’m very proud of myself for actually acknowledging that I am a musician, a proper musician with good songs in my discography. People tend to misunderstand the hard work and ambitious that I have for this dream of mine, and it’s okay, but I feel like every little detail of every song requires a lot of focus in making sure your song is mixed, produced, and mastered at a pro level. It takes a while, but trust me, it’s all worth it in the end. One thing people tend to misunderstand about my musical work is the lack of financial income, and it’s true, I don’t win a lot on music, and I know that, but I just don’t see money as the main goal of why I’m doing this. I’m doing this because I enjoy it, and I always wanted to make music mainly for the creative process, making music that I see having the potential of making people enjoy it, rather than making horrible music with a lot of streams/revenue. I don’t like that. A true musician will make whatever he/her wants!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Bryan Jose Martinez, a 20-year-old born and raised in Houston, Texas. My artist ego name is BR1AN. I’ve been making music since 2014, 9 years now, and my primary genre is electronic dance music, but I produce other genres as well. I am also a DJ in the EDM scene since 2014 as well. Making music just makes me happy, and helps me explore more of what I like and helps me become a better person in real life. I’ve managed to produce more than 300+ projects, 6 studio albums, started a band, and currently working on 2 albums at the moment. It just warms my heart seeing people from every corner of the world listening to my music. It’s a feeling that I can’t really explain, but it’s such a heartwarming feeling and it motivates me to continue with this dream.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Very simple. Making my friends, family, everyone that knows me, and potentially in the future, my fans, really proud of what I accomplished. That’s what drives me to continue my creative music journey.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
When people play, love, share, and dance to my music! I think that’s the reward that matters to me!
