Bryan, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

If you’re going to start your own business then first you have to be fed up with whatever your current situation is. You need big reasons to change that compell you to move forward. That’s how I got started. I always wanted to be a business owner but hadnt had enough reason to spawn a viable idea. Dissatisfaction and pressure tend to generate performance and change for me even if I have to cultivate dissatisfaction with my current situation in an effort to stay hungry and keep moving forward. I found enough pressure, dissatisfaction and reasons to reach a point where the lightbulb to start my business clicked on. From that moment it was taking action towards solving the issue of “what do I have to do to get this started?” The feelings of why I needed to do this were big enough that once the idea was generated the obsession to bring it to market became my primary thought everyday until it was real.

As a native of Virginia Beach Bryan Hopkins has been around the water all of his life. Since a young age he has had a passion for spending time outside, birdwatching, hiking, surfing and kayaking. Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Following your passion is not always a good idea. Your passion in business form might mean no one cares and youre broke. Stop being selfish and think what consumers want, how to give them value and that is more likely to create a viable business.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

When you’re tired of your situation be it time, money, flexibility or someone else being in control of you then you’ll change. That’s what I did. Had a good regular job but wanted more and didn’t want to answer to another man anymore and be my own man.
