We recently connected with Bryan Hadley and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my current feature film, Urbs in Horto, because I had to go to really deep places to become this character – a dark 1920s mob boss named Johnny Torrio. It was an honor playing Mr. Torrio but you have to understand all the good and bad he did in his lifetime to give honor to that character and story. I think our entire cast in the film became their characters too. The film is just so rich and this work by all is just so entirely meaningful because of the depths achieved.

Bryan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I became a film actor in 2014 after so many people here in Austin and in my hometown of Longview, Texas, told me “you’re such a rich and natural character. Have you ever looked into film acting?” And so I did. I took 7 months of film acting classes here in Austin and then master workshops in Burbank through the Will Wallace Acting Company, and have never looked back.
I’m most happy and proud with the other actors who have helped me develop our incredible films at Fried Talk Films. People like Darrell Russell, Rahul Chakraborty, Bryan Rogers, Kate Wright, Kasey Bass, Lauren Jenkins and Christopher Winbush and so many others. I love these people as people and they are such rich talents who have added so much heart to our films. In each film, your greatest job is to become the character and all of us have done that in every film we’ve produced.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society needs to support NOT ONLY film you see at big, classic system theatres but society needs to wildly support INDEPENDENT FILM. Specifically, we all need to attend the film premieres and purchase the films of truly Independent filmmakers on big platforms AND small platforms.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal in each film is to get my acting level as high or focused or near perfect as I can get it in EACH SCENE. I ask this of our actors too. Then, when you have 30-35 scenes of those put together, you gotta heckuva movie!
