We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bryan Duffy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bryan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The biggest challenge is hard copy sales and downloads compared to streaming music.
That accompanied with the fact that there is more interest in an artists social
Media lives rather than the actual music itself
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I fell in love with the guitar when I was 9 years old.
I also became fascinated with song writing at a young age and the two became my main focus.
Singing didn’t initially come very easy to me, however after going through years of temperamental lead singers, I simply took on the role myself.
In 2007 i moved from my country of birth, Canada to Las Vegas to join the Garage Boys.
The band was initially managed however I took over the responsibility a few years later and have been running the band until the present day.
We have performed mainly in Las Vegas, but have done extensive travel throughout the US as well.
We have just finished recording our 3rd record with producer Dale Penner and will be releasing singles beginning in March. The full album will be released later in 2025.
Until then, we keep on rockin’ in the free world.
Bryan
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Our goal is to make new music in the rock and roll genre. Classic rock is one of the most popular forms of music, however there isn’t much new RnR music in the main stream.
We would love to change that.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe our reputation in the music market has stayed strong by keeping the same members in the band.
Our Drummer/Bassist/Myself have stood the test of time.
Our new guitar player Lee Curran is very happy in his 3rd year with the band.
I do this by taking only a small percentage of live gigs off the top for the business.
I split pay evening amounts the band. Everyone has something to gain and there is no pay “hierarchy” therefore very little arguments.
The band performs 250-300 gigs per year. This keeps us musically tight and ensures I only except the better gigs available. This keeps moral high.
I like to focus on our musical brotherhood.
