We were lucky to catch up with Bruno Monteiro recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, BRUNO thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I started my design career as a freelancer very early on. I was at a few agencies during the first few years. But with the volume of clients increasing over the years, either through referral, or because a good job has been done and the client returns, or through advertising. I decided it was time to open my own business in 2015.
Over the next 5 years, focused on the events market, I expanded my clients and gradually increased my revenue. In 2018, I already had 5 employees and my own office.
But unfortunately in 2020, with the coronavirus pandemic, the events market weakened and I needed to reduce the company again to just 1 employee. Since then, I have been maintaining this format because I learned that growing a company with many people requires, in addition to knowledge, management, care for people and the workplace, a lot of cash to be able to maintain itself in unfavorable scenarios. Today I serve fewer clients, but I manage to have 3x more revenue. In addition to being able to increase the company’s cash flow.
BRUNO, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Design has always been an area that caught my attention from a very early age. I learned how to use editing programs when I was 14 years old. Having always been involved in the world of music as a DJ, working with artists and events was an almost natural calling.
I have already done visual communication for events that I greatly admire and are of great relevance on the world stage. I am known for being able to translate my clients’ most abstract ideas into visual compositions.
One of the jobs I most enjoy doing is creating song or album covers. Synthesizing in 1 image, all the feeling and depth that the artist (musician) put into that work, is something that I am very proud of.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Without a doubt, it is exploring my full creative potential in this world.
I make a point of expanding my knowledge in different areas of design, so that I can have as much information as possible. Transforming them into new visual compositions.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Recommending one client to another, for work well done, is without a doubt the biggest source of new clients in my entire career.
