We recently connected with Bruno Baltazar and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruno, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
As a high school soccer coach and teacher in the classroom, I am faced with challenges on a daily basis, and part of competing is within my nature. So I decided to take a venture of self publishing a book about another sport I don’t coach but equally enjoy, which is football. I wrote a story about a semi professional team from 1968-1970, but more than a story about young football players from college, the story is about adversity, friendships and hardships and more importantly, a story about a dream and what happens when we don’t reach that dream, or what happens when we actually reach that dream. So the biggest challenge was to write, edit it, with my wife’s help, Kayla Baltazar, and than after that, it was time to buy enough copies out of my pocket, open a website, and share it with the world to be able to sell my book. After selling it, it was time to ship it and get costumer reviews, so it was a big challenge specially for someone that English is his second language,

Bruno, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Anyone interested in getting a signed and still numbered to 125 copies of the Pottstown Firebirds book, they can do so by going to pottstownfirebirds.org, or email me at [email protected] and ill be able to set up payment which is also on the website via PayPal, I also sell hoodies relevant to the book and team, specially for those fans of the Philadelphia Eagles I believe this is a must story for them.
I also coach high school soccer in Texas, I was at Brookshire Royal boys soccer where we won undefeated district and went to the 3rd round of state playoffs. I will now be the girls head coach soccer at Cy Ridge Rams in Houston and looking forward to create a winning culture there but most importantly to educate and make the young girls, the next future of our leaders in this country and world.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my wife, because who better to trust than her? She is also an expert at writing and editing as she teaches English in. high school and has several edited works in her resume, so allowing myself to trust my book with her was a easy decision and allowed the process to go much smoother, than if it was with someone else.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Just writing a book in English was enough resilience, I started, but gave up several times, but it was because of my peers and wife that I continued to write it, Portuguese is my first language so there is a gap between these two languages. My next issue was to print it and make enough copies out of my own pocket, than it was time to figure out how to design a website. After this process was done I had to learn how to properly use social media platforms and other media forms to advertise the book as financial effective as possible. So even on writing a book there’s a lot of moving pieces if you want to do it yourself and a lot of costs involved too.
